Come learn how to decorate sugar cookies with me! Because of the demand and popularity of the decorated sugar cookies I have decided to teach a beginners class on how to decorate. I will provide 6 cookies and royal icing for decorating. Each month will have a different theme that I have preplanned. This 4 hour American Red Cross in person training will give you the skills to help save a life and it is the accepted certification for support workers and teachers and is an opportunity to achieve the skills of assisting someone in an emergency until first responders arrive. Learn the techniques of responding to various emergency situations with a combination of guided lectures, videos, and hands on practices.

Instructor Jeffrey Darnell Carpenter is the Training Coordinator/Workforce Recruiter for Granite Bay Care in Scarborough and has many years of experience in teaching. His passion for subject matter and his presentation skills are accessible to everyone. He is a seasoned educator and public speaker with years of sharing instructional and relevant presentations regarding everything from enhancing job experiences to the visual and performing arts. His passion, humor, and knowledge is infectious and inspiring.

White pine, Maine’s state flower, and Red pine, are ubiquitous throughout the state and provide a vital pool of resources for human and nonhuman Mainers alike. Pine needles are beautiful and strong! They can be coiled and sewn together to make hats, lovely usable baskets, and/or adorably tiny ones.

Learn to identify, regeneratively gather and harvest, properly store and process, and weave with pine needles. We'll cover the basics of coiled basketry, which is a global, ancient human skill, and create a wonderful pine-needle basket. Every participant will make a basket to take home.

Materials fee is included in the cost of the class!

Prepare for your permit, and get valuable driving practice. Students must be at least 15 years old to attend. Classes run Monday to Thursday from 2-4pm. The first class runs from 2-5pm, and a parent or guardian must attend from 4-5pm.
