Introduction to Recreational Kayaking - Session II
with Sebago Trails, Westbrook Adult Education

Come learn the essential skills and knowledge the novice kayaker or “never been before but always wanted to try it” paddler needs for recreational kayaking. In a one day on-the-water instruction, we will cover a variety of kayaking fundamentals from safety equipment, rescue techniques, smooth entering and exiting, to weather and water conditions, and more. Learn the basic types of kayaks and how to select the one that is best for you. Kayaks and PFD’s for all on-the-water instruction will be provided. Co-owners of Sebago Trails Paddling Company, Bill and daughter Katelyn, have over 30 years of paddling experience and instruction between them. All classes will be held at Sebago Trails Paddling Co., 1311 Roosevelt Trail, Raymond. Fee: $39 per session.

Want to try the fastest-growing paddle sport in the nation? Here is a great opportunity for the novice SUP-er or “never been before but always wanted to try it” paddler. Come join Bill & Katelyn Perry and learn the essential skills and knowledge you need for Stand-Up Paddling, on boards especially designed for ease of use and learning. In a one-day on-the-water instruction, we will cover the basics of SUP’s, types of boards, getting on and off, basic paddle strokes and essential safety issues. Then there will be plenty of time to practice in a quiet, flat water environment. Paddle boards and PFD’s for all on-the-water instruction will be provided. Iceland Photography Workshop & Tour

Iceland Trip 1:

We’ve partnered with Dave to bring you two opportunities to travel and learn about Iceland. What to know about Iceland?
It is one of the most eco-friendly countries in the world. Iceland was the last place on Earth to be settled by humans (Vikings). It has a 99% renewable energy supply. Many Icelanders believe in elves and trolls - adding to the magic and wonder of this mystical country and culture. You can swim outdoors in hot springs all year round; something we will experience. About 11% of Iceland is covered in glaciers, including the 3rd largest glacier in the world. Iceland has over 600 hot springs and volcanoes.
This trip is limited to 12 participants in order to allow sufficient personal attention from the leaders. Costs DO include all in-country food, lodging, travel, and activity fees.
Costs DO NOT include round trip airfare (approximately $450 - $600 as of 2021 prices). A $500 deposit is due upon registration to reserve your spot. Final payment will be due in May. Full details and itineraries are available on our website.

This tour is offered for photography enthusiasts who would like to develop their skills with landscape photography. This program is not designed for professional photographers or for those with extensive landscape photography experience. For this trip, you should be in adequate physical condition to hike 3 to 4 miles on moderate terrain carrying a day pack.

We have partenered with Five Towns Adult Education to bring you this amazing travel opportunity! Your $75 payment to SAD 1 Adult Education shows your interest and commitment to this trip. David Watts (from Five Town AE) will then reach out to you to collect the remaining $425 deposit. You MUST pay the full $500 ($75 + $425) to reserve your spot. The remainder of the payment is due to Five Towns AE in May.
