Dance Aerobics can improve symptoms of depression, strengthen your heart and lungs, help lower your cholesterol, improve your immune function, and lower your blood pressure. You will leave feeling the effects of a great training session with a skilled instructor.

Basic understanding of the instrument. Learning basic guitar, tuning cords, and chording. Music structure and reading chord chards and guitar music sheet. How to self progress and play songs.

With its chunk-a-chunk sound, whispery nylon strings, and diminutive body, the ukulele is having a moment. Find out why the ukulele is making a strong comeback in this beginner level class.
This is a beginner class, but students who have some experience with the ukulele are also welcome. Learn about tuning, strumming, fingerpicking, chords, reading tab...then putting it all together to learn your first songs. Scales, technique, and easy music theory will also be discussed. Ukulele should be soprano, concert, or tenor size.
Ukuleles are available to purchase at local music stores, eBay, or Amazon.
Please bring an electric tuner.

Beginning Guitar II
with Tom Hudgins, Bangor Adult & Community Education
A continuation of Beginning Guitar I utilizing techniques from the textbook and additional instructor material. Topics covered will include learning the basics of reading tablature, 12 bar blues and exercises from the second half of the textbook. Prerequisite: Completion of Beginning Guitar I or instructor permission. Tom Hudgins, is an artist/musician and adult educator who works with both art and guitar in his creative work. He has a Bachelors in Studio Art from the University of Maine and a Masters in Adult Education from the University of Southern Maine.

Strengthen your core, improve your flexibility, shake and shimmy off inches while moving to the beautiful mysterious melodies of the Old World. As a means of self-expression, this ancient art inspires grace, poise and confidence and boosts self-esteem. Wear comfortable clothing such as a tank top and capri pants. Beyond Beginner Guitar

So you have the basics, now let’s keep those fingers strumming. We will further develop your skills, increase your knowledge of the fret board and learn some simple finger picking. Register early; this class will take only 10 students. Beyond Beginner Guitar
with Ian Weidner, Scarborough Adult Learning Center
Further develop your guitar playing skills and improve your understanding of the guitar fret board. We’ll also play blues progressions and rhythms, touch on simple music theory, and begin to improvise and express your unique creativity. Acoustic guitar, capo, and pick required. An electronic tuner is highly recommended. Open to adults and high school students 16 years or older.
Ian has played guitar for over 25 years and has taught group and private lessons for over six years; excellent student evals here at the Scarborough Adult Learning Center keep students coming back for more!
