Whole Body Yoga will move us beyond our breath and into a creative, flowing sequence each week. Sun Salutations will be incorporated throughout the class and provide us energy and strength. Sun Salutations are very powerful and touch each muscle in the body; that is why we call this class Whole Body Yoga for a full body experience. Please dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat!

Travel back in time 200 years to Romanticism (1780s-1820s) to explore the lives & literary works of Romantic writers, such as Mary Wollstonecraft, A. Radcliffe and Mary Shelley (at left). Early pioneers of feminism, Gothic literature, and icons of the Romantic period, these writers infuenced other writers, e.g. those in New England. 

Read & talk about Frankenstein! Read excerpts of selected Romanticism-era books, stories and memoirs, discuss themes, contemporary retellings and our own writing experiments.

Please join us for an evening of breathing and stretching in this Mindful Yoga class. This practice of yoga can help rewire or reshape our brain and improve the quality of our life experiences. In this gentle class, we move mindfully through a series of postures designed to increase flexibility and build strength while encouraging a connection between movement and breath. Sahaja Yoga is a unique method of meditation developed by H.H.Mataji Nirmala Devi (1923-2011). Through this process, one becomes balanced and integrated mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. In this class you will learn chakra clearing techniques using natural elements and affirmations that will deepen the meditation experience.  Sahaja Yoga does not require physical exerciese and no previous experience is necessary. Jerry voluntarily shares Sahaja Yoga.

Wet Felting Spring: Crocuses

Learn to wet felt wool into beautiful realistic felted crocus with bulb and roots. We will be using soft, quick felting short fiber merino wool in luscious colors, aromatheraputic olive oil soap, warm water and some elbow grease. Learn to make botanical forms such as flower petals, leaves, wired stems, bulbs and roots. Bring to class: old bath towel, VERY SHARP large and small scissors (I like Fiskers), notebook and pen. Not required but if students have a Pink Clover needle pen please bring. I will have them available for sale for $14 and additional supplies.

So why attach importance to seemingly random jumbles of nightly images?  Dreams convey messages from your unconscious to your conscious mind using a dialogue of symbols, feelings and images which reflect deep seated desires/feelings. Paying attention helps resolve inner conflicts and enhances self- understanding. We'll learn prevalent dream symbols and themes while practicing dream interpretation. Bring a dream to share! Maia has recently opened a hypnotherapy practice serving the Portsmouth/York area.

This course will help you spell, pronounce and define medical terms. The majority of medical terms are made up of interchangeable word parts that are used over and over again in different combinations. You will discover connections and relationships among word roots, prefixes and suffixes.

Soon you will be able to define a medical term simply by recognizing its individual parts.

Course Requirements This course does not require any previous medical background.

Course Goals

-Recognize basic medical terms.

- Define vital signs. 

- Define word root, prefix, and suffix and know how and where to use them.

-Learn and understand medical terms by breaking them down into their component parts and learning the meaning of the parts.

-Learn to construct medical terms from component parts.

-Pronounce, spell, and define commonly used prefixes and suffixes.

-Define anatomy and physiology

-Recognize and define terms relating to the cardiovascular, respiratory and urinary systems.
