Cookie Decorating w/ Baked by Cam S5

Come learn how to decorate sugar cookies with me! Because of the demand and popularity of the decorated sugar cookies I have decided to teach a beginners class on how to decorate. I will provide 6 cookies and royal icing for decorating. Each month will have a different theme that I have preplanned. Instructor: Casey Marsh - Casey fell in love with baking years ago while baking annual Christmas cookies with her mother and grandmother. She has always been a creative and artistic person (who also LOVES to feed people) so it only made sense that she start a business doing just that! She is a fully licensed home baker. She completed the baking and pastry associates program at York County Community College, but the majority of her skills are self taught.
Beginning Fly Tying
with Lane Soltesz, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

Attendees will learn the basic techniques for fly tying and progress to tying flies for catching freshwater fish in Maine's lakes and rivers. Vises, tools, hooks and all supplies needed to produce fishable flies will be provided by the instructor. Class size will be limited to 5-6 students to allow for individual assistance as required. Class will cover tools, hooks, fly size, fly type and construction techniques used to create flies. The student will learn to work with feathers, hair, tinsels, thread, wire, fur, beads and many other materials used in making flies. A materials fee of $25 must be paid to the instructor on the first night of class. *No Class: 2/18.
Beekeeping: An Introductory Workshop
with Sagadahoc County Beekeepers Association, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

This one day introduction course will provide an overview of beekeeping for those considering beekeeping or just wanting to learn more about honeybees. The course will cover equipment required, equipment sources, cost, level of effort required, basic bee biology and care, etc. The course is intended to provide basic background information and a general understanding of beekeeping, to help determine if beekeeping is for you. The course is not intended to function as a full beekeeping course; it is highly recommended that a full "Fundamentals of Beekeeping" course is completed if your goal is to become a beekeeper. Meets in Rm 160.
Beekeeping: The Fundamentals
with Sagadahoc County Beekeepers Association, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

This six class course of instruction is designed for those that wish to become a beekeeper. The course will cover the what, why, and how of beekeeping. Topics include but are not limited to bee biology, equipment requirements and setup, seasonal management techniques, diseases, pest management, honeybee environmental benefits, and hive products. The goal of this course is to develop a foundation for new beekeepers to be prepared to keep bees. A course textbook will be provided to each student. Meets in Rm 160. *NO CLASS: 2/19.
Mindful Stitches
with Heather Coombs, Noble Adult & Community Education

Start the new year with calm, creativity, and mindfulness. In this soothing class, instructor Heather will show you how to take printed fabric and enhance it with simple yet beautiful embroidery accents. Learn to slow down and enjoy the meditative process of stitching as you transform fabric into one-of-a-kind art. No experience needed—just bring your curiosity and a desire to begin the year with intention.

Rotisserie Chicken Class
with Jeffrey Darnell Carpenter, Wells-Ogunquit Adult Community Education

This class will introduce delicious lunch and dinner meals by using affordable rotisserie chicken already cooked and ready to go. Fun, easy, and chef friendly meals. This is a hands-on class where participants will have the opportunity to work the recipes. Please bring a Tupperware container with you to take home the leftovers. Each participant will receive a whole chicken to work with and also a recipe book to take home. Grocery fee of $10. due to instructor at time of class.

Introduction to Acrylic Painting
with Gayle Fitzpatrick, Noble Adult & Community Education

This class covers composition, color theory, and color mixing, as well as materials and techniques. You’ll learn and practice the fundamentals of painting with acrylics. Class will provide time for experimentation, creativity, and the opportunity to work on your own projects with guidance from the instructor. Beginner and Intermediate painters are both welcome!
