Embroidery for Beginners

Designed for beginners, this embroidery course can also be a refresher for those who are out-of-practice. We will cover the basics of starting an embroidery project, learning the common tools, materials, techniques and stitches. By the end, students will have completed a simple embroidery sampler suitable for display. For those students who want to move ahead at a faster pace, a second sampler project will be available for purchase at the second session.

Emergencies on Board your boat has been prepared to assist the prudent skipper in preparing for unfortunate instances where accidents happen. The presentation will raise awareness of emergencies and are not intended to heighten anxiousness or raise fears of worst case situations. Rather, it is hoped that the knowledge gained from this seminar will increase your understanding of the conditions and situations causing emergencies along with actions and procedures to mediate them. The boater will be able to know that “Boating is fun - we’ll show you how”. Seminar is presented by America’s Boating Club of Kennebec River Area. There is a $25 material fee to be paid to the instructor the first night of class.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN TRAINING (EMT)

The Emergency Medical Technician program provides students with necessary skills to respond to emergency calls, to provide efficient and immediate care to critically injured persons, and to transport patients to a medical facility. Students receive instruction in anatomy and physiology and patient assessment. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the National Registry Exam for Emergency Medical Technicians. The course includes a 12-hour clinical rotation in an emergency department and a 12-hour ride-along with an ambulance service.

Please welcome them to our community and bring them in to our adult education office to connect with us.  

We will provide free English language classes.  Students can enter the class at any time.  Learners at all levels of English proficiency (Beginner through Advanced) are welcome.

JoAnne Wood is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy. Since moving to Maine, she has worked as a professional pastry chef and owned a dessert catering company in Gorham, as well as taught cooking classes. JoAnne’s classes are designed to be hands-on but are also perfect for those who may wish to just observe. The class always makes every item listed and everyone gets to sample. JoAnne advises students not to eat dinner before coming to class because there is so much food! Each student will receive a full print-out recipe packet to take home!
