Mindful Experimental Drawing

Calendar Apr 22, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 7 weeks
This class will provide the opportunity to create drawings by experimenting with new techniques using a variety of different mediums. The emphasis will be to challenge yourself in exploring unfamiliar territory while opening the door to your own unique way of drawing. Group projects and critiques will greatly complement the creative process. A supply kit is available with a student discount at The Art Mart in Portland.

Mindful Pastel Landscape Drawing

Calendar May 21, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 4 weeks
This class will introduce students to the basic principles of soft pastel drawing, including the mixing of colors on various textured surfaces, layering, and blending (dry and wet technique). Composition and value will be explored through landscape photographs. Mindfulness exercises will accentuate the creative process and allow the inner artist to unfold naturally without judgment and fear. For beginners as well as those with previous experience. A supply kit is available with a student discount at The Art Mart in Portland.

Mindful Yoga

Please join us for an evening of breathing and stretching in this Mindful Yoga class. This practice of yoga can help rewire or reshape our brain and improve the quality of our life experiences. In this gentle class, we move mindfully through a series of postures designed to increase flexibility and build strength while encouraging a connection between movement and breath. Please dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat! No class 2/19, 2/21, 4/16, 4/18.

A recent transplant to Maine, Sonya Brockman received her YOGA ALLIANCE RYT-200 training in 2015 She has also trained in prenatal yoga, restorative yoga, children’s yoga, and most recently, Yoga for All Bodies. She has taught yoga in North Carolina, Colorado, and is happy to be teaching in her newly adopted home here in Maine. Her classes emphasize safe alignment and building strength, endurance, and flexibility.

Minimizing the Cost of College

Misty Island Paint Night - Orono

This one-night 'paint and sip' style class is intended for people who want a fun and creative evening out. You'll create a beautiful acrylic painting of a lazy and misty island in the sea that you can display in your home or gift to a friend.

You'll be able to improvise and choose your colors while the instructor explains the method.

A snack will be provided; bring a coffee to tea with you.

A $15.00 materials fee will be paid directly to the instructor the night of class.
