Awareness Through Movement - The Feldenkrais Method - Session 2

The Feldenkrais Method is a type of neuromuscular re-education that will enable your body to do more than it has in years. These gentle movement sequences will help you work through chronic muscular or joint pain. This is not an exercise class, so loose fitting or stretchy casual clothes are appropriate. Please bring a mat and two thick towels to class.
Babysitters Training Course
with Katy Genthner, MSAD #40 Adult Education
Learn the skills and techniques necessary to be a responsible, competent and fun babysitter in a one-day class. This course will cover such topics as: child care essentials, the proper response and handling of emergency situations, behavior management, safety for the sitter, and babysitting as a business. Students should bring a lunch and a snack. Please do not bring any electronics or phones. For students ages 11-14. A certificate is issued upon successful completion of the course. Register EARLY – this class fills up quickly!

Creative Writing Workshop - Session 2
with Elizabeth Potter, MSAD #40 Adult Education
This ongoing workshop offers participants an opportunity to get the creative juices flowing, overcome the internal critic, and let heart and soul flow out onto the page! Just as importantly, it also provides a tight knit, supportive community of fellow writers with whom to share the fruits of your labor. The instructor, Elizabeth Potter, will present proven writing prompts and techniques to tickle your muse and coax even the most hesitant voice onto the page.
Elizabeth Potter is a teacher and poet residing in midcoast Maine. Her new collection of poetry “T’ai Chi of Leaves” was released by Moon Pie press in September 2016. Her poems have also been widely published in literary journals both locally and nationally. Elizabeth has been leading creative writing workshops for all ages for the past seventeen years.

You can choose to study at home or come to the learning center and use our up-to-date computer labs.
We offer 360+ instructor-led online courses, from professional technical development to personal interest, through a partnership with Ed2Go. Classes are convenient and affordable. You will spend two to four hours each week completing two lessons in an interactive learning environment in which you will be able to interact with instructors and fellow students in online discussion areas. Most courses begin near the middle of each month and last six weeks. Upon completion of a course with a passing score, you will get confirmation of completion from your learning institution. Most of these courses are 24 hours and may be used for professional CEUs or in addition to campus courses for high school completions.

Suicide is a significant concern in Maine and nationwide, but we can do something about it. Come learn more about what you can do to prevent suicide. The goals of the workshop are to heighten awareness about suicide in Maine and beyond. Increate the ability to speak openly about suicide; provide information about the risks and protective factors associated with suicide, teach what warning signs and clues to look for; teach skills to intervene when concerned someone might be considering suicide; and provide helpful resources for participants.
