Let’s explore the beauty of Acadia National Park with the gorgeous fall colors, without the crowds! Our first stop at Sand Beach will include a picnic lunch provided by a local deli (with desserts from a local bakery!), followed by a leisurely cruise along Park Loop Road with stops at Thunder Hole and Otter Cliffs. Discovery the beauty of the sheer cliffs and ocean vistas as we make our way through the park, enjoying the scenery during peak foliage season! Let’s visit Jordan Pond House, where we’ll savor the view AND the popovers (an unlimited supply!), and then head to the summit of Cadillac Mountain for a bird’s eye view of Mount Desert Island. We’ll make a quick stop in Bar Harbor to check out the shops and galleries before we call it a day. This is one day in Acadia you won’t want to miss, so relax and enjoy the ride! Included in cost: lunch from a local deli and bakery (drink, sandwich, chips & desserts), park entrance fees, drink & unlimited popovers at Jordan Pond House. Dinner in Bar Harbor not included in cost. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring extra layers, comfortable walking shoes, water and snacks, if you choose. We will be using a coach bus for transportation, equipped with a restroom. This trip is family-friendly. Bring your sense of adventure!

Through partnership with the University of Maine at Augusta, Kennebec Valley Community College and Central Maine Community College, we now offer Accuplacer testing at our Adult Ed location.  The Accuplacer will assess your college readiness in reading, writing, mathematics, and technology.  Colleges generally use these scores to place you in the most appropriate classes.  Fee will be waived for those enrolled in College Transitions program.

The guitar is the world’s most popular instrument! I’ll start you off easy, and in this class you’ll learn the chromatic scale, how a capo works, tuning the guitar and the 16 chords you’ll need to play a jillion songs. We’ll listen to, play, and discuss early Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Iris DeMent, Gordon Lightfoot, Rory Block, Bruce Springsteen, and, of course, some Christmas music! We’ll learn how to read tablature and when your fingers get tired we’ll view some DVD’s for fun! By the second class you will need to bring a capo and picks. Limit 6 students.

Acrylic Painting

This class covers composition, color theory, and color mixing as well as materials and techniques. You will learn and practice the fundamentals of painting with acrylics. Class time will provide time for experimentation, creativity and the opportunity to work on your own projects with guidance from the instructor. Beginner and Intermediate painters are both welcome! Class size limited to 10. Bring to class: materials list supplied at registration.
