Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Volunteer Training W24

This is a five-week course that will provide participants, 16 years and older, with the tools and understanding needed to lead small groups of participants through a day of open-water fishing adventure. We will explore the principles of the Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs campaign and use our knowledge to offer a day of open-water fishing. This course is geared to pair mentors with youth to promote spring and summer, outdoor education and develop a love for life-long learning.
INFORMATIONAL DATE: April 4 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
4 weeks of class held Thursdays, from 6:30-8P
April 25, May 2, May 9, NO May 16, May 23
Practical Assessment on Friday, May 24 from 1-430P at BiCentennial Nature Park, Rte 3, Augusta.
This course will be taught by Kelli M Gilzow Stowell, our certified Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Instructor, Certified Educational Trip Leader for Augusta Adult and Community Education AACE Program Coordinator, Augusta Parks and Recreation Outdoor Educator, and Certified American Red Cross Instructor.

Excel for the Absolute Beginner 5.24.24
with Michael Wilson, Five Town CSD Adult & Community Education
Instructor will demonstrate how to navigate and interface with Excel’s basic features. See how to create a simple contact list. You will view how to use calculations such as autosum and see how to generate simple formulas. Also, learn to use the fill handle, sort existing data, merge and center, move cells and ranges, and wrap text. These easy steps will be held over Zoom.
AI (Ai) Made So Practical and Easy!

We will explore the practical benefits of using a basic form of AI called ChatGPT. If you have or have not used Google before to search for information, this AI will be a snap! Take your search, research, inquiries, and answers to questions to a whole new level! Find quick written solutions to problems based on your exact needs. Generate personalized text in seconds for invitations, letters, and any other materials you are looking to create. AI will quickly generate any text for you based on your interest. Also, never worry about grammar and spelling errors again! You will be amazed at how user-friendly this session will be. Take this class; you won’t be disappointed!
Breeding Birds of Fort Foster

Focus on birds who nest at the fort. Bring binoculars. Class will meet at the entrance gate of Fort Foster. Additional fee may be required for entrance to Fort Foster.

Walking Tour of Greenwood Cemetery
with Ron Romano, Biddeford Adult Education
Greenwood Cemetery is a hidden gem! Established in the mid-1800s when other “garden” cemeteries arose, Greenwood offers a wide variety of gravestone materials, monument forms, symbolism, and epitaphs from the nineteenth century. Cemetery historian Ron Romano will share the best that Greenwood has to offer, pausing to visit the graves of some who were lost at sea, taken down by disease, died by suicide, and even murder. The stroll along the winding pathways of this pleasant burial space will take about 90 minutes. Two identical tours will run the same day, at noon and again at 2 PM.

Join us for a day of open-water fishing! Your participation does not require a fishing license and gear is available for those that may not have their own, FCFS. This is ideal for a whole family experience. Learn how to move about safely on the fishing hole, how to cast, bait your own hook, and lots more about how to enjoy the great outdoors. This event is held at BiCentennial Nature Park. No alcohol permitted.
