Culinary Industry Career Exploration Track

Did you know that the food service industry is among those industries that are expected to gain the largest number of jobs in Maine between 2016 and 2026? This track will help you learn about job opportunities and career-planning related to the food service industry.
Indoor Walking Trails and Fitness Stations
with York Adult Education
Come in from the cold and walk around the Middle School. Choose “trails” with stairs or without. Fitness stations around the building will help build muscle tone while you walk the trails.
Art Club- Thomaston Grammar School
with Cynthia McGuirl, RSU #13 Adult and Community Education
Art Club is offered to 4th and 5th grade students at TGS by local artist, Cindy McGuirl with assistance from Callie Saulniers. This is a popular program that often has a wait list. You will receive a call or email directly from Cindy or Callie to confirm your child’s program schedule. Please note that there is no bus home, so be sure to note pick-up arrangements for your student on the permission form. Let the art begin!
Art Club - (Grades 4 & 5) with instructor Cindy McGuirl. A variety of art topics using different techniques are offered throughout the year. Students get a brief lesson on how to use the new materials and then create their own, unique projects. Art-making usually includes duct tape sculpture, bookbinding, marbled paper making, sock puppets, and oodles more!
SCHEDULE: Art Club begins October 16th at Thomaston Grammar School, and continues on Wednesdays and Thursdays when school is in session until May 7th. Students may sign up for one or both days as available. Programs start directly after-school and run until 5:30pm. There is NO ART CLUB ON holidays, early release days, and snow days.
Getting Paid to Talk: An Intro to Voice Over / Online Course
with Voices Coaches, Gray-New Gloucester Adult & Community Education
This in-depth web-based class takes you behind-the-scenes into the studio to explore the enormous growth in professional voice acting. From commercials and training material to audiobooks, gaming, education, on-hold messaging, and more, get an inside look at how ordinary people with clear communication skills pursue great voice acting opportunities. This class is presented via the internet and is best suited for viewing on a device connected via wifi. The class includes video and audio. There is also a workbook section that can be downloaded for permanent reference. After purchase, receive instructions, including a unique password, that will allow you to access the class for 48 hours once logged in. Final portion of the class includes multiple choice review and instructions to schedule a one-on-one voice review. To ensure organized scheduling, voice reviews should be scheduled within one week of class participation.

Job searching? Let’s sharpen your job-related skills! Do you need to create or update your resume, create an email account, learn Microsoft Office basics, or refine your existing skills? Our Career Advisor, Suzette, will work one-on-one with you over six sessions to meet your career-focused computer needs. Work on creating documents appropriate for the workplace and/or the basics of sending and receiving email messages as well as opening and attaching files.
