Are you comfortable with your clay abilities and just looking for a place to work and improve your skills? Join us in the Morse High School Ceramics Studio and start making all those things you have been dreaming up! This is not an instructor lead class, but the instructor will be on site working in case you need something. $65 for materials and studio fee, payable to instructor, must be paid on the first night of class. *Purchasing additional clay: The fee is an additional $65 to cover the firing, glazes and other consumables used during class. Please note: If you miss a class, you cannot make-up the class at another time. The ceramics schedule is very tight and these classes are usually full. Working with Silver Clay is an exciting process where the inexperienced can explore their artistic abilities and create unique one of a kind items. Come join this exciting class where beginners can easily learn to create earrings, pendants, charms, beads, bracelets, and rings. Experience a new creative adventure and learn how easy and fun it is to make beautiful items from Precious Metal Clay (PMC) or Art Clay Silver (ACS). Materials fee of $80 is payable to the instructor on the first night of class.

Traditional Case Bindings

A three-week series of book arts classes that will cover various techniques and materials including Decorative Calligraphic Papers and two Case Bindings. One with a cloth spine and one with a paper spine. Each class will focus on a different topic, while we learn the basics of bookbinding vocabulary and a bit of book binding history. First class: Decorative Calligraphic Papers - Learn the basics of using broad edged mark-making tools & round pointed tip brushes in calligraphic ways. Second class: Case Binding with a Soft Cloth Spine – In this class, we will create the basic, multi-gathering, case bound book. Third class: Case Binding with a Paper Spine – The third class will focus on strengthening our skills in forming our text blocks, while learning an alternative style of cover. We will add a decorative paper spine to the hardbound covers. Materials & Tools provided.

Women’s Basics of Pistol Shooting

In a non-threatening, safe, women- only environment with no live ammunition present, learn the basics of handgun safety when kept in your home or throughout your daily routine; how to handle a pistol safely; parts of a pistol and ammunition; fundamentals of pistol shooting including holding, stance, and aiming; common malfunctions; cleaning; and selecting a pistol just right for you. You may not

bring your own handgun or any ammunition to class, but the instructor will have safe, unloaded examples to share. You will receive a textbook. The optional two-hour range time at Lincoln County Rifle Club in Damariscotta is separately scheduled during daylight hours during the week and has a fee of $50 payable to the instructor. If you go to the range, you’ll fire either your own pistol or one from the instructor and try to put five rounds of ammunition through four separate target circles at 10 feet using only 20 rounds. You will need 50 rounds of ammunition for your personal handgun. If you are “renting” a pistol from the instructor, she will have 50 rounds of ammunition for you for a cost of $25 for a total cost of $75. To pass this nationally rated course and get certified, you must attend all sessions and actively participate, pass a written examination, and pass the 10-foot shooting qualification, all within two weeks of the last class session. Certification can be used to apply for a concealed carry permit.

American Heart Association CPR

This course covers adult, child and infant CPR. Use of an AED. Adult, child and infant choking. How and when to call emergency services. A certification from the American Heart Association will be presented at course completion. Workbooks are not included with this class but can be purchased in advance for $10. This workbook covers CPR and First Aid. Please indicate on registration form if you want to purchase.
