The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies.  The courses in this program teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.  The program offers a choice of first aid, CPR and AED courses to meet the needs of various training needs of diverse audiences.

No previous training is required, and certification is good for 2-years.

Drilling Sea Glass and Beach Stones

Get ready for summer by turning your sea glass and small beach stones into beautiful jewelry! In this class, we'll discuss the best drill bits to use and how to drill glass without overheating it. Bring in your favorite collection and transform them into earrings, pendants, or even rings. We'll show many examples of what you can create with your drilled treasures. No experience is required, and all materials and supplies are provided. Join us and make unique pieces from your summer finds!

Intro to Nature Journaling

All levels welcome! Engage curiosity about the natural world using drawing and discussion. The first class will be held at the Saco Learning Center and class locations to various nature-rich areas will be discussed weekly and includes Clifford Park and Blandings Park Wildlife Sanctuary. Beverly will call by 9am IF the class is moved indoors (to the Saco Learning Center) due to inclement weather. No class 6/7.

Bring a 5.5- X 8.5-inch spiral multimedia sketchbook, mechanical pencil with eraser, several gel or ballpoint pens with fine or medium points as well as a container to hold your materials when traveling to different sites. Optional: Watercolor pencil set (instructor recommends Pentel Arts Aquash water brushes available on Amazon - materials approx. $35).

Beverly Thorpe is a Maine Master Naturalist and artist working with various forms of art including metalsmithing, drawing, painting and creating artist books. She leads nature walks on local trails focused on native plants & trees, and loves to share the awe-inspiring beauty of nature with others.

The class begins with an overview of Python, a language designed for code readability. You will learn the basics of Python and programming concepts like variables, loops, functions, and classes. You will gain working knowledge needed to begin coding and using Python for your day-to-day tasks. No prior experience is needed, but a computer will be needed in order to participate.

Sebago Lake Kayak Lesson and Historical Tour Session II

Join the Registered Maine Guides at Sebago Trails for an on-the-water adventure. This two-hour course will begin with a safety briefing and lesson covering the fundamentals of recreational kayaking. Using the EZ launching system at Sebago Trails Paddling, the tour will explore a meandering stream's water-carved bends and twists, unveiling local wildlife in a rustic backdrop. Then, continue onto Jordan Bay of Sebago Lake as the guides share stories dating back to the region's settlements. Come for the beautiful lake views and leave with your new favorite hobby! This is a great experience for anyone looking to get outdoors. Perfect for first-time kayakers and experienced kayaking enthusiasts. A kayak, paddle, and life jacket will be provided. Co-owners of Sebago Trails Paddling Company, Bill and daughter Katelyn, have over 30 years of paddling experience and instruction between them. All classes will be held at Sebago Trails Paddling Co., 1311 Roosevelt Trail, Raymond.

Walking Tour of Greenwood Cemetery

Greenwood Cemetery is a hidden gem! Established in the mid-1800s when other “garden” cemeteries arose, Greenwood offers a wide variety of gravestone materials, monument forms, symbolism, and epitaphs from the nineteenth century. Cemetery historian Ron Romano will share the best that Greenwood has to offer, pausing to visit the graves of some who were lost at sea, taken down by disease, died by suicide, and even murder. The stroll along the winding pathways of this pleasant burial space will take about 90 minutes. Two identical tours will run the same day, at noon and again at 2:00pm.
