White Stone Wilderness Survival WEDNESDAY SESSION Spring 2025

Our original class scheduled for TUESDAYS filled very quickly. Instructor Jim Paine agreed to add a second session on Wednesdays. This is the Wednesday class. 

In this hands-on course, you’ll learn essential wilderness survival skills, including: Building your own survival kit Fire starting techniques Shelter building Water sourcing and purification Identifying wild edibles Trapping for food Navigation and orientation Developing a survival mindset This class will take place in both a classroom and outdoor setting. Please dress in appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather. Children under 14 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Jim Paine, with 50 years of survival and bushcraft experience, is an expert in wild plants and wild edibles. He also participates in search and rescue in Greenville, Maine. This is his third program teaching wilderness survival.

Join other women and young teen girls, for this FREE safety educational lecture and discussion. Teen girls must be thirteen years old to attend due to the mature nature of the topic. Parents, please use your discretion. A $10.00 donation is requested but not mandatory.

How Do I Get Enrolled in Adult Education?

The first step in enrolling in Adult Education is Orientation!

What happens during an Orientation?

We are so glad you asked! We want you to be prepared and informed about what to expect during your Orientation session.

During your Orientation Session you will:

  • Meet with our student advisor
  • Discuss what you would like to accomplish through Adult Education
  • Fill out enrollment paperwork
  • Sit for academic placement testing

What you should know before you arrive:

  • We are located at 377 River Road, Mexico, ME 04257
  • The Adult Education entrance is the one that is facing the road
  • You should ring the bell and wait for us to buzz you in. Once we do that, you can come right upstairs
  • The Orientation process can take a few hours, so please plan accordingly

What you MUST bring to your Orientation Session:

  • A current, valid Maine Photo ID (Maine drivers license, Maine State ID card, Passport, Military ID, etc.) Please present this at the time of your appointment for identification verification.

(If you do not have any of those form of Photo ID, please reach out and let us know before scheduling an Orientation so we can assist you in the necessary next steps.)

Ogunquit Museum of American Art

Come visit the iconic Ogunquit Museum of American Art! Opened in 1953, this gem of an art museum is a hidden treasure on Shore Road. The museum boasts five art galleries, three acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with sculptures and an unrivaled view of Narrow Cove and the Atlantic Ocean.  We will leave Wells High School at 9:45 and return at 11:45. No lunch is included in price, however the group will have an opportunity to dine together at their own expense. Instructor: Gayle McIntyre

Expressive Art Journaling

Mixed media art journaling gives you the freedom to create self-expressive art without the fear of mistakes. Expressive art journaling can help to reduce stress, depression and anxiety. In this 6-week class, learn to create a visual expression of ideas, thoughts and emotions while relaxing and having fun using a wide range of art supplies and techniques.

No art skills required! Supplies for use in class are provided.

Chunky Blanket Workshop

Have you been eyeing those fabulous chunky blankets you’ve been seeing at expensive home décor shops? In this workshop, you will learn how to make your own! Using buttery-soft jumbo yarn, you will create a scrumptious blanket using a simple hand-weaving technique. Choose from an array of beautiful colors! Absolutely no knitting, crocheting, or weaving experience is necessary. The dimensions of the finished blanket are approx 4.5' x 6' - it varies a little bit due to differences in how tightly/loosely people work. *Materials fee of $58 must be paid to the instructor at the beginning of the workshop. **The deadline to register for this workshop is 5/16 due to pre-order requirements. Instructor will contact registrants directly about material preferences.

By the end of the session, you’ll feel confident navigating Meta Business Suite and ready to make your posts truly shine.

Please note class is taught live online via Zoom. You will be sent a link prior to class. If a student is unable to attend the live online training time, they can still register and watch the recording of the training at their convenience. Follow-up support is also included from the instructor and students are encouraged to reach out with questions at any time before or after the class has concluded
