Basic Beginner Welding (Spring/Summer)

Have you ever thought about fabricating with metals? Maybe as a craft/hobby, or the start of a new business venture down the road? If you answered yes, then our new Basic Beginner Welding class is the right fit for you! The class will cover stick (SMAW) welding including learning how to weld different types of joints together, how to use the large range of supporting equipment (brushes, sanders, grinders, etc.), and the various welding processes with a focus on safety first.
Instructor: Quinn Gerrish
The class will meet for 8 consecutive Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 pm beginning on May 29th running to July 17th.

Class is limited to 6 students!
All needed ppe will be supplied to the students while in class. It is recommended to have leather boots and to wear all cotton jeans. (no light or torn fabrics)

Stress Reduction and Relaxation with Theraputic Yoga: Virtual - 6 weeks Session 3
This 60-minute Yoga class will provide sequences that calms the nervous system along with stretching/warming the muscles and preparing the mind to rest. Breathing techniques, short meditation and positive affirmations will end the practice.

Revitalize & Refine Your Yoga Practice
with Jade Nelson, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

Not your typical yoga class!! Do you wonder if you are doing the pose right? Does it hurt when you are in a pose? This two-week workshop is focused on postural structure, alignment, breathing, and finding comfort within a pose. Our time together will consist of getting into poses, receiving feedback, making adjustments, to gaining deeper awareness within our bodies. Bring your yoga mat, props and burning yoga pose questions or concerns. Together we can find the adjustments that get your practice flowing and create a newfound body awareness to take off the mat into your daily life. ***Please bring your own yoga mat.
Fruit Curds

Fruit curds are a custard made with fruit juice instead of milk, and can be enjoyed as is or as a filling in any cake or pastry! These smooth, rich, velvety, bright flavors add depth to your desserts! Chef Mary Bailey will show you her tried and true techniques to impress your friends and family with your skills! All curds are also gluten free! Bring your appetite and get ready for some happy sampling. This is a demonstration class, however, students are welcome to either watch or join us in the kitchen. Bring an apron and a couple of small containers for leftovers. Recipes provided.
Mary Bailey, pastry chef and past owner/chef of Thyme and Honey Bakery in Biddeford, is passionate about baking bread and teaching people how to incorporate homemade bread into their daily lives.

This online course will help women in midlife focus their diet and exercise to lose inches from their waistline by summer. I will show you step by step what I did to lose 6 inches from my belly.
Becky Longacre is a nurse gone health coach with a specialty in weight loss from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She uses her own health journey to empathize and lead clients to better health and life satisfaction through happy, healthy, sustainable weight loss and empowered decision-making.
Managing & Expressing Emotions

Knowing what to do with these feelings and how to appropriately express them can be another challenge. Join us to discuss understanding and navigating our complex internal emotions along with tips and tools for expressing them.

Need a quiet place to study? Need to work on your HiSET Academy? On a college class or ITV class that you are taking? Or on a Plato Credit Recovery class? The Mattanawcook Academy library will be open for learners to use to study and complete work. The library provides a comfortable place for learners to work with plenty of space to spread out, bathrooms and vending machines nearby as well as multiple charging stations for your electronics. Laptops will be availabe for use as well as access to our Career & College ready library. An academic tutor will be available for general education questions
Bus Driver CDL Class B Permit Prep
with Biddeford Adult Education

Bus drivers are in high demand in Maine! This course will help prepare you to take the CDL Class B permit exams. Participants will use the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles handbook, and there will be a specific focus on requirements for bus drivers. After successfully completing the course and passing the exams, students have the opportunity to work for Biddeford Public School as a bus driver trainee.
Prerequisites: Current Class C license, CASAS assessment score of 238 or higher.
