Get hands-on with Needhams, an iconic Maine candy made from our state's top crop - potatoes! Learn the story behind this tasty treat, while whipping up a batch of your own with potatoes grown right here in Maine. In addition to learning the original and classic recipe, participants will learn easy ways to customize their potato candy with non-traditional mix-ins and flavors. Each student will leave with potato candy recipes and their own batch of handmade Needhams to share with family and friends for Valentine’s day! Scrap Cards

Looking to find a use for all the paper scraps you have left-over from other projects? Create your own unique cards from scraps! Explore making three different cards: a fractured card, a pieced star card, and a striped card. Sentiments will be provided for all occasions and no two cards will be alike! Create three cards to take home. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own paper scraps. Registration closes at noon on 2/10.

Faith Garnett began teaching card making in 2009. She sells her original greeting cards online.

Farming with Edible Native Plants 2.11.2025

This class will teach you how you can grow and harvest edible, native plants. David Spahr installed a public, edible landscape across from the town hall in Washington, Maine, in June of 2014. The intention of this edible landscape is to educate and feed people. Wild bees support the pollination and are supported by the many wild local natives. Varieties include peaches, serviceberries, American plum, beach plum, American chestnut, shagbark hickory, highbush blueberries, raspberries, black raspberries, huckleberries, thimbleberries, strawberries, cranberries, raisin Viburnums, Sedum purpureum, violets, peppermint, garlic, day lily, Rosa rugosa, chives, rhubarb, Jerusalem artichoke and others. David has been farming wild, native plants for many years. His PowerPoint will show the native plants he farms with while he provides a discussion of the ecological implications.

Most people go about it the wrong way. In this introductory class, you will learn about a unique, outside the box way to break into this creative, fulfilling, and potentially lucrative industry. Voice-overs can be managed on your own terms, on your own turf, in your own time, and with minimal overhead! Whether you choose to pursue voice-overs part-time or full-time, this could be the game changer you’ve been looking for. In addition to online instruction, you will be given the opportunity to book a 1-on-1 script read and voice evaluation via telephone with your instructor for the following day. This class will be presented via Zoom, you will receive a link the 24 hours prior to the class.
