State Approved Certified Medical Technician Program. Includes: 60 hours classroom, 20 hours classroom/lab, and 40 hours clinical training. Th s is a 120 hour course preparing CNA’s working in nursing homes to administer medications under the supervision of an RN (this 40 hour piece should be scheduled at the facility, by the facility, and a schedule provided to the instructor.) PREREQUISITE: CNA license +2080 hours as a CNA. Call the Adult Ed Office at 778-3460 for an application and detailed registration requirements. Assessments required.

Earn your CNA credential once you complete the 130-hour program, pass the State exam and are acceptanced to the State CNA Registry. Classes and labs will meet in person at the Sullivan Learning Center and clinicals will be at local healthcare facilities and/or hospital.

Prerequisites: completed application, documented medical immunization history, meet with student advisor, and complete assessments.

Certified Nursing Assistant course that meet the State requirement of 180 hours (110 hours of classroom/lab and 70 hours of clinical experience) and, if needed, six hours of CPR instruction. Clinicals are held at area healthcare facilities. Upon successful completion of this course, passing the State CNA exam and successful acceptance to the State Registry, you will be a state-certified CNA.  

This is a high school level Chemistry class delivered through an online platform. The course can be taken to meet postsecondary prerequisite requirements. This is a hybrid course with online instruction and independent work combined with the opportunity for individual help sessions. The instructor will be available via zoom, in person tutoring and email. The course must be completed in 14 weeks and has open enrollment throughout the entire year. Topics: Atomic Structure, Compound Formation and Stoichiometry.

For any and all students who are prepping for Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology or other competitive majors, this is an excellent opportunity to meet the admissions "Chemistry with lab" prerequisite. If you have been away from science courses for a while, this course is recommended to prep you for rigorous college science classes. Students who successfully complete this class will earn 1 high school credit. It will be offered entirely online, with required weekly review sessions conducted via Zoom. This course is provided at no cost to students through the Maine College and Career Access Services grant and RSU13 Adult & Community Education.

A required instructional period will be Mondays from 7:30-8:30pm on Zoom. An additional Zoom review session will be offered each week. Students are required to attend these sessions. If a student is unable to attend this session, they must communicate with the course instructor.

  This class is available for students enrolled in an Adult Education high school completion program, or post-secondary students who are enrolled or plan to enroll in a college or career training program within 18 months. At this time, it is not intended as a credit recovery program for currently enrolled high school students in the K-12 system.

Students who successfully complete this class will earn 1 high school credit. This course is appropriate for students prepping for college or completing an adult education diploma. If you have been away from science courses for a while, this course may prep you for rigorous college science classes. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, pharmacology, taking and documenting vital signs, the technical aspects of phlebotomy, the 12-lead EKG and the cardiac life cycle. This test prep program meets the necessary requirements to take the National Healthcareer Association Certified Clinical Medial Assistant (CCMA) national exam.
