Electronic Health Record Management Program Online

This program prepares students to understand and use electronic records in a medical practice. The course reviews the implementation and management of electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems and maintaining the medical, legal, accreditation and regulatory requirements of the electronic health record. This test prep program meets the necessary requirements to take the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Electronic Health Record Management exam and be prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer Association NHA) Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist exam.

In this class, you will create an email address for yourself and learn the basics of sending and receiving messages. START ANYTIME!  Job searching? Let’s sharpen your job skills! Do you need to create or update your resume, create a (professional!) email account, learn Microsoft Office basics, or refine your existing skills? Our Certified Career Services Provider/Advisor, Suzette, will work one-on-one with you over six sessions to meet your career-focused computer needs. Work on creating documents appropriate for the workplace and/or the basics of sending and receiving email messages as well as opening and attaching files. Call for more information or to set up a schedule. Registration: 6-week session, $50.

This course addresses important employment law requirements in the US and covers the implementation of employment policies. Employment law is dynamic and changing quickly, from digital communications to the complex and evolving workplace, legal professionals need to know the intricacies of this discipline. Successful graduates of this course will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from the college or university of their choice. There are additional book fees for this course.

If you, or someone you know, want to practice strategies for reading and writing in a safe, friendly environment, this is the course for you. 

Reading and writing are complex.  The teacher will share the skills necessary to understand what you read, and to build your vocabulary and your confidence with writing.  Using articles, books, vocabulary exercises and online computer applications, increase your ability to read, write, remember, and feel confident in the world.  This is an in-person class with ongoing enrollment through May.

Emily Nash brings many years of experience teaching adult education and has strong skills in designing curriculum to meet the real needs of students. She’s respectful and sensitive to the needs of adult learners and is always a good listening ear. She loves to read, and between stints as an adult education teacher, she is a seasonal professional landscaper. Emily is a student advisor, and teaches English, HiSET prep and Multilingual Learners.

Whether preparing for the HiSET exam, earning credits toward an adult education diploma, or preparing for college and a career, students will learn the fundamentals of writing, reading, and mechanics.  Classes are done at the student's pace, with targeted instruction.  Multiple texts will be used, with a variety of reading selections.  Students work in a "lab" like setting, focusing on individual work with help from the instructor.  This is intended for all levels of learners.

This course is designed to help adults improve their reading, writing, proofreading, editing, and revising to prepare for standardized exams.  We cover the basics of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph development, and will eventually write effective essays with clear ideas, smooth transitions, and logical support.  We will practice planning, research, prewriting, and organizing our writing.  Learning to proofread for punctuation, usage, content, and support will be emphasized.  This is an in-person class with ongoing enrollment through May.
