Build strength, stability, and confidence with this low-impact fitness class designed to support healthy knees and better movement with Maine Active, LLC. Using bodyweight exercises and resistance bands, you’ll improve leg strength, balance, mobility, and joint support in a safe and supportive environment. This class focuses on functional movement patterns that help with everyday activities like walking, climbing stairs, standing up, and staying active. Exercises can be modified for different fitness levels, making it a great option for beginners, active adults, and anyone looking to move with less discomfort and more strength. This is a specialty program and includes: resistance bands, guided instruction, progressive weekly plan, and injury-conscious programming. Nicole is an ACE certified fitness instructor, personal trainer, and USAF veteran.The course fee is for 5 sessions with Nicole, and includes resistance bands. No experience needed; just bring comfortable clothing, supportive shoes, and a willingness to move. Bring a yoga mat for seated modifications (optional). *No Class: 10/12.

He will discuss: when you are eligible, what is the timeline for enrollment without penalties, what original Medicare covers and what it doesn’t, what additional plans work in conjunction with original Medicare, and your financial assistance options.

Any overuse of elbow muscles and tendons can cause pain that spreads into the forearm and wrist. Join occupational therapist Mary Woodbury, OTR/L CHT, to learn how to minimize pain and swelling and keep your work or play on track. Topics covered include: racket size, weight, grip, stretching, self-care for swelling and overuse, current treatments and stretching techniques.

Fundamentals of Home Canning

Have you ever wanted to try canning, but were unsure how to get started? Or perhaps you are concerned about food safety, and wondering how to ensure that your canned food is both delicious and safe. Well, this is the class for you! Join Allison Carroll Duffy, Master Food Preserver and cookbook author, for this hands-on workshop covering all that you need to know to get started canning your own food. We'll cover the basics of safe home canning, including proper procedures, techniques, and use of tools and equipment. Then we’ll learn hands-on--working together as a group and going step-by-step--to make and can a big batch of jam. We’ll use the boiling water bath method, which is the same method you’ll use for making many other canned goods you might want to make at home, including pickles, salsas, chutneys, and fruit. While this class will focus primarily on the boiling water bath method of canning, pressure canning will also be discussed. At the end of the class, there will be plenty of jam to taste, and each participant will go home with a jar of jam to enjoy...as well as all the know-how you need to start canning confidently at home! *There is a $10 materials fee, payable to the instructor at class.
