Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12th – how about presenting Mom a lovely cookie bouquet? Flowers wilt, and drop petals everywhere… but cookies… mmmm, cookies won’t last long enough to create a mess! Ellen will bring her goodies tool-box and we’ll create an assortment of beautifully-decorated-by-you cookies to build an arrangement, or add to an existing arrangement. You can’t beat the “special” factor of this gift.
Please bring a materials fee of $20 payable in cash to the instructor at class.

One - night Workshop

Ever wonder how to preserve all those great garden veggies? This hands-on workshop led by a University of Maine Extension volunteer will teach you the basic steps for canning and freezing. Participants will recieve a "Preserving the Harvest" packet and will learn recommended methods for preserving food.  They will also receive the latest and safest recipes, learn about equipment safety, and be taught how to ensure jars are properly sealed.

Have you wondered how to preserve your memories in a creative way and rewarding way?  Do you want to get your photos off your phone so they can be appreciated?  Not sure where or how to start?  All you have to do is bring 3-6 printed photos and a taperunner and Verna will guide you in creating a beautiful scrapbook page with a fun border.  Turn your memories into a work of art! Class fee $15 Materials included, 1 12x12 scrapbook page with page protector, Curated paper pack with embellishments, Foam squares sample Optional: Students may purchase a taperunner at the class for $9.50

Watercolor for Everyone

This class welcomes all levels of students wanting to experience watercolor painting. The weekly exercises are designed to build confidence through step by step instructions. Techniques such as wet on wet, dry brush, blotting etc. are integrated into each watercolor painting. Color theory and mixing is covered along with how to create a successful composition. Many students have returned each year remarking how much they enjoy the class. They learn something new each time they attend. Come and enjoy meeting great people who love to paint and have fun! The supply list available on our website or by calling the adult ed office.

Holly Smith is a Maine native who graduated with a B.S. degree in Art Education from the University of Southern Maine. Retired from teaching high school art and photography for 31 years she now happily teaches adult ed. Holly is represented by the Portland Art Gallery, Bonnie Farmer Assemblage Art & Gallery, and the Lincolnville Art Gallery.

Do you use essential oils but want to know more about them? Or maybe you have no experience but are curious? In this one night workshop, we will discuss what essential oils are, how they are made and how they can be used to enhance your life. We will touch upon some of the more commonly used essential oils and will also cover safety precautions. You will learn about the different qualities of essential oils that are on the market and how to make an educated decision when faced with many different brand choices. Participants will have the option to make 2 essential oil roller bottles to take home with them (material fee of $5). Elissa Nauman, MS, is the founder of Restoring Through Nature, LLC. She guides clients to achieve their physical, emotional, and spiritual health goals through the support of essential oils and energy work (Reiki and IET). She has a Master of Science in Counseling and is certified in essential oils coaching, Usui Reiki Level 2, Integrated Energy Therapy, Reiki Crystal Healing and is a Certified Chakra Therapist.

If you're nervous about interviewing and want to learn some tips that will give you control as an interviewee, this is the class for you! 1:1 support is available as a follow up for anyone who needs interviewing practice.
