Belly Dancing with Kitties - Session III

Come enjoy a weekly Belly Dance class with kitties! The class will be set up as Mixed Level. It would be good to have some prior belly dance experience, but all are welcome! The space is at Meow Lounge, so there will be cats in the dance area with us during the class. There will be a variety of moves to work on for those who have more experience. Anne Beal has been teaching Belly Dance (Middle Eastern Dance) for more than 15 years. She will be hosting her class in her Meow Cat Lounge.

Have you always wanted to “burn it up” on the dance floor? Now you can! Join long time dance instructor Sue McKay of the Back Door Dance Studio for a fun, energetic dance class. This 7 week session of classes will include easy to follow dance workouts to various speeds and types of music–Country, Pop, Latin, Funk, Jazz, and more–you name it and we can dance to it! Suitable for beginner and intermediate dancers, no partner required. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes, bring your water bottle, and be prepared to sweat. If you love music and dance, and are looking for a fun workout, this is the place to be! No class on April 16.

For the experienced Excel user, this live, instructor-led Windows 10 Desktop course features official course materials approved by Intuit & Microsoft. Prerequisite: Excel Basics/Intermediate course or instructor’s permission. Topics covered in this course include working with multiple worksheets, web sharing, pivot tables, advanced formatting, charting, documenting, auditing, and dealing with spreadsheet challenges. This course provides the MOS certification pathway (no expiration) for interested students, and students may elect to take the official exam when ready. Call the Adult Ed office for separate purchase details of the required eBook which accompanies this course (unless these materials were purchased for the current Basics & Intermediate class). Please note: Students will need Excel 2019 installed on their home computer in order to practice at home. If you have not previously taken an Excel course at MCST please be sure to complete the 2-part form at this link before the first class.

Intermediate Artist Quality Pastel Painting

In this six-week course, we'll paint, paint, paint using fabulous color, and discuss painting composition, and techniques for both representational and abstract work. We’ll also begin to look at the student’s painting preferences and influences as a means of finding their personal style.  We'll use artist-quality materials and techniques that make pastel painting a versatile, accurate, portable, and fun medium to work with. A materials list will be provided prior to the first class for those who wish to source their own materials. 

At an intermediate level, the student is strongly encouraged to begin using art supply resources online and in person, however, material packs will be available from the instructor for $40 each at the first class.

Intermediate Soap Making

Previous cold process soap making experience is required for this class. In this course, you will learn how to formulate your own recipes, which natural colorants you can use to color your soaps, basic swirling techniques, and use of essential oils in your soap.

You will leave this class with 2 lbs of soap and your soap mold. Students should wear long sleeves to class.

Maine Driving Dynamics

Maine’s Driving Dynamics course offers all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. This five-hour course will include discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. Students completing the course will receive a 3-point credit on their driving record. A certified Maine Driving Dynamics instructor teaches this course.

Class will be held at Gorham Middle School from 6:00pm - 8:30pm
