Calendar Sep 14, 2026 at 10 am, runs for 5 weeks
1 additional session on Oct 19, 2026

Don’t miss this opportunity to get outside with your fellow artists and enjoy fall colors as we work en plein air across midcoast Maine. You may work in any media you prefer. There will be a mix of oil, acrylic, and pastel painters; watercolor, gouache and ink sketchbook artists, and more. Last year the weather held up through November, and we had a wonderful time enjoying and capturing the fall colors. Register for one or both sessions. Artists of all experience and confidence levels are welcome. If you need extra one-on-one instruction while working in the field, it’s recommended that you set up within eye shot of the instructor so he can get to you easily should you need help. We also found at certain sites that staying in touch via phone and text was a good way to summon Ed to where you are working. Meet up locations will be emailed to everyone prior to each class. Contact Ed Higgins directly with any questions ed_higgins@icloud.com.

Ages: 15 - 19

Parents:  It is vital that your student arrive on time for class.  Due to late arrivals, students have fallen short of their 30 hours of class time and must make up the time.  Because the State of Maine requires 30 hours of class time, if your student arrives late, they will be turned away, and a charge will apply (below) for the class to be made up.  It is very important that your student arrives on time.  Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions.  Thank you for your understanding.

**Please Note: A make-up fee applies to all missed classes and driving sessions. ** **

Class and Driving Makeup Fees:

Classroom: $40/hr

Driving: $80/hr

Please bring a birth certificate or passport to the first class and a pen to every class. Parents/Guardians must attend the last 45 minutes of the first class and participate in a ride-along with their child, which the instructor and the parent will schedule.

Review all Rules and Expectations and parent/student links on our website: https://merrymeeting.maineadulted.com/home/driver-education/

Are you between the ages of 15 and 19 and want your State of Maine permit to prepare for your driving exam? We offer driver education courses to help build strong, safe, and confident drivers. Students are awarded an instructional permit upon successfully completing the course with a grade of 80 percent or better and completing the required hours of instruction. The total hours of instruction are 40; 30 are in the classroom, and 10 are behind the wheel. A full payment of $575 is due at the time of registration. If a student withdraws from the course, $75 is withheld from the refund to cover program costs. Only employee discounts for this class. Please call Merrymeeting to register by phone if you are employed by MSAD 75, RSU 1, Brunswick, or Wiscasset school departments. The list is available on our website for students with a medical diagnosis. Please contact the office or click the link below for the required CR-24 medical form.
