We will explore three variations of the accordion artist book, the Simple, Window & Pamphlet Accordions. These books include three different text & cover techniques. We will also touch on the basics of book binding vocabulary & where the accordion book structures came from historically. Tools & materials provided. A materials fee of $20 payable to the instructor is due on the first night.

This Course is designed to teach passengers what to do if the boat operator becomes injured, unconscious, or unable to operate the vessel. A hands-on safety course that prepares you to take control of the boat in an emergency – even if you have never driven one before. Introduction to Upholstery: Ottoman Edition

Ottoman Edition! This hands-on workshop introduces students to some of the foundational skills of upholstery. Over the course of three classes, students will learn to transform a plain, wooden frame into a beautiful, custom ottoman. Through guided instruction, students will become familiar with a variety of upholstery tools and techniques. Students will also learn how to measure and cut cushioning materials, and properly assemble a finished ottoman. If you're looking to gain a new skill, this course provides a brief introduction to the art of upholstery. Course Highlights: + Learn how to transform a plain, wooden frame into usable furniture. + Hands-on practice with a variety of upholstery tools: pneumatic staple gun, rubber and wooden mallets, staple remover, pliers, and more. + Guidance on fabric selection, estimating, and manipulation. + Basic padding, assembly, and finishing. + Safety procedures and proper tool usage. Materials: Students will need to provide their own fabric. All other materials, including the ottoman frame, will be provided. Recommendations on where to purchase fabric can be found on my website: khgupholstery.com. Feel free to reach out should you prefer to discuss fabric options prior to purchasing. *Upholstery weight fabrics preferred.* All tools will be provided for use during the class. What to Bring: 2 yards of fabric *Be sure to have your fabric on hand for the first class* For additional comfort, feel free to bring a pair of gloves, safety glasses, and/or mask to wear while upholstering.

This 4-hour course is designed to give Boaters a working knowledge and understanding of lines and line handling techniques. It will include a discussion of the various types of lines, and related safety concerns, as well as how to tie the essential knots used every day on the water. A hands-on approach will be used to demonstrate and practice each knot. This course will also cover Docking and Anchoring equipment and procedures with an emphasis on how it all works. Join master wood carver Ken Wise and cooking instructor Chris Toy for a fantastic weekend of hands on Carving and Cooking instruction. Come learn how to carve cooking utensils such as chopsticks, spatulas, and spoons. Then learn how to use them to prepare, cook, and eat some tasty Asian fusion recipes from Chris Toy's cookbooks! The retreat happens on the shores of Merrymeeting Bay in the Butler Head Nature Preserve. A limited number of AirBNB style overnight accommodations with shared bathrooms are available.
