Beginning Conversational Spanish
with UGotClass LERN, Noble Adult & Community Education
Designed for beginners, we will have you speaking and reading Spanish in no time. You will practice the basic building blocks of the language and common idiomatic expressions. You will know enough vocabulary and grammar for simple conversations, and you will learn how to ask and answer questions. Whether you speak some Spanish and need a refresher, or no Spanish, you will complete the course with the skills to communicate in Spanish.
Gentle Beginner Hatha Yoga - 6 Week

Join us for a class in Hatha Yoga led by certified instructor, Nancy Cotty from Peace Within Yoga. Yoga is a great way to relax and improve your health and well being. The focus will be on stretching and breathing while building our strength and finding peace. All levels are welcome. Drop-ins are welcome and new students can join anytime. All equipment will be provided for you. Information learned through yoga classes and workshops should not be considered a substitute for medical advice.

Acrylic Pour 101
with Linda Murray, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
This class is designed to accommodate those that are new to acrylic pouring and those that would like to fine tune their pouring techniques or learn a new technique. It is not crucial that you have drawing or painting skills, but we will discuss composition and color theory in the first class. Students will learn how to do a Dirty Flip Cup Pour, Ring Pour, Dutch Pour and Pearl Pour in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Developing a painting after it is dry, varnishing and preparing a piece for hanging will also be demonstrated at the end of the class. This class is not one of control, but rather letting go. If you love color and texture you will enjoy this class. Students are responsible for purchasing their own materials for this class and will be given a materials list upon enrollment. *Please note: Materials cost vary depending on market value and personal preferences. Upgrade Your Sea Kayak Skills
with Alice Bean Andrenyak, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
This one day on-water workshop will teach you proper transport of a sea kayak, strokes for most efficient paddling in different conditions, proper boat launch etiquette, safety on the water, where you should and shouldn’t paddle, using a chart while paddling, common rescues and tows. There will be capsizing involved so you are required to wear a wetsuit or drysuit to participate. Limited rentals are available with advance notice. You will bring your own lunch, sea kayak at least 14’ long with two bulkheads, paddle, life jacket, bilge pump, paddle float, and enthusiasm. This program will take place in Brunswick.
Monoprinting on Clay
with Turning Arts Studio, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
Learn how to transfer hand-drawn imagery onto clay using monoprinting techniques with slip and underglaze. Explore layering, line work, and expressive surface design. Bring leather-hard pots if you’d like, or use provided slabs. All materials included; $20 materials fee payable to the instructor. No experience necessary.
Plein Air Drawing Group: Meet And Go Sketching
with Kat Logan, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
This is an opportunity to learn how to draw Plein Air, meaning outdoors. We will be meeting on several Saturday mornings at 9 am at the Centre Street Gallery on 11 Centre Street. There will be some instruction and some suggestions on how to approach our time drawing outside. We will head off with sketchbooks in hand, into the coffee shops if it is bad weather and outside if its good. We will finish our session back at the gallery for review and sharing. Some experience drawing is helpful but not necessary. Bring a sketchbook, pencil, sharpener and eraser and weather appropriate clothing as we may be doing some walking. Meets on 4/18, 4/25 & 5/2.
Tintype Photography: History, Art & A Hands-On Demo

Step back in time and discover the magic of tintype photography! Learn the history and context of wet plate collodion, the 19th century's most popular photographic process which gave working class Americans their first chance to own a picture of themselves or a loved one. Students will also have a hands-on chance to make their own tintype in this darkroom-based class. The instructor will work through each step in the process, from coating, sensitizing, shooting, developing and fixing the plate. Each student will go home with their own, heirloom quality, finished, half-plate tintype. No prior photography experience required.
Materials fee is included in the cost of the class.
