Beginning Conversational Spanish
with UGotClass LERN, Noble Adult & Community Education
Designed for beginners, we will have you speaking and reading Spanish in no time. You will practice the basic building blocks of the language and common idiomatic expressions. You will know enough vocabulary and grammar for simple conversations, and you will learn how to ask and answer questions. Whether you speak some Spanish and need a refresher, or no Spanish, you will complete the course with the skills to communicate in Spanish.
Gentle Beginner Hatha Yoga - 6 Week

Join us for a class in Hatha Yoga led by certified instructor, Nancy Cotty from Peace Within Yoga. Yoga is a great way to relax and improve your health and well being. The focus will be on stretching and breathing while building our strength and finding peace. All levels are welcome. Drop-ins are welcome and new students can join anytime. All equipment will be provided for you. Information learned through yoga classes and workshops should not be considered a substitute for medical advice.

Ultimate Beginner Watercolor: Brilliant Layers

Join us for a lively one night workshop devoted to the magic of transparency and glow. From 4:30 to 8:00pm, we will dive into the art of glazing, showing you how to build luminous layers that shimmer with depth and richness. You will explore negative painting techniques that carve light out of color, turning simple shapes into striking compositions.
We will also play with color theory in hands on exercises designed to loosen you up and spark bold, confident choices. Think vibrant mixes, unexpected harmonies, and a few happy surprises along the way.
Perfect for adventurous beginners and seasoned painters alike.
*There is a materials fee of $20, payable to the instructor.
Colorful & Expressive Pastel Sketching
with Dana Bateman, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
Designed for beginners but open to all levels, we will use our pastels in a loose, expressive way to create several quick drawings, with the goal of finding new approaches to a very traditional medium. Using expressive mark-making and bold color choices, we will work from a selection of reference photos from our beautiful state of Maine. An array of mats will be provided, with the goal of everyone leaving with something matted that they would consider worthy of display!
Let It Go! Fiesta

This is a unique dance therapy program, led by Tony Dancer, that offers physical and mental health benefits. Not only does it help you stay physically fit and burn calories, but it also serves as a form of therapy to combat depression and anxiety. With Tony as your guide, you can dance and let go of your worries without fear of judgment. Let It Go Fiesta features a mix of Latin and multicultural music, making it enjoyable for people of all ages, genders, and body types. You can move at your own pace and have a great time. So why not join the fun with "Let it Go Fiesta" and experience the joy and freedom of dance? If you hate to workout but love to dance, this is for you! Course fee is for 6 sessions with Tony.
Pine Needle Baskets

Learn to identify, regeneratively gather and harvest, properly store and process, and weave with pine needles. We'll cover the basics of coiled basketry, which is a global, ancient human skill, and create a wonderful pine-needle basket. All tools and materials will be provided. *Program includes all required tools and materials.

Parsons Memorial Library first opened its doors in 1903, and generations of stories are under its roof. This beautiful building in Alfred has lots of history to share. Learn more about the library and its history, and celebrate National Library Week! This class is free but registration is required.
