How Do I Get Enrolled in Adult Education?
The first step in enrolling in Adult Education is Orientation!
What happens during an Orientation?
We are so glad you asked! We want you to be prepared and informed about what to expect during your Orientation session.
During your Orientation Session you will:
- Meet with our student advisor
- Discuss what you would like to accomplish through Adult Education
- Fill out enrollment paperwork
- Sit for academic placement testing
What you should know before you arrive:
- We are located at 377 River Road, Mexico, ME 04257
- The Adult Education entrance is the one that is facing the road
- You should ring the bell and wait for us to buzz you in. Once we do that, you can come right upstairs
- The Orientation process can take a few hours, so please plan accordingly
What you MUST bring to your Orientation Session:
- A current, valid Maine Photo ID (Maine drivers license, Maine State ID card, Passport, Military ID, etc.) Please present this at the time of your appointment for identification verification.
(If you do not have any of those form of Photo ID, please reach out and let us know before scheduling an Orientation so we can assist you in the necessary next steps.)

Substitute Teacher Training

Are you interested in becoming a Substitute Teacher for RSU 16? This engaging training is for anyone considering the opportunity, as well as for those already working as a Sub. No experience or degree required! We will cover general procedures, classroom management expectations, tips & tricks, lesson plans, health and safety, and the application process. Free, but you must register in advance. Participants who are later hired by RSU 16 will be eligible for compensation for attending!

CPR/First Aid/AED Training
with Maria Romano, York Adult Education

This American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED course uses a combination of video, lecture, and guided skill practice to teach participants to respond to cardiac and other health related emergency situations. Topics include basic first aid, response to environmental emergencies, warning signs of heart attack and stroke, CPR including AED training, and foreign object airway obstruction for adults, children, and infants. Certification is valid for two years. Participants should dress in comfortably fitting clothing that allows for movement, as the class includes both desk and floor work. No written test. Hems, Holes & Seams - Oh My! - Session 2

Please join several talented sewists who will help you hem those too-long pants, take in that skirt that is a little too big, patch the hole in your favorite jeans and your snuggliest blanket, or sew up your pet's favorite stuffie. This class will help you learn how to mend, patch, and alter your favorite pieces.
Dandelion Food & Tea Workshop
with Jessica Steele, Ellsworth Adult and Community Education

Do you know all the amazing things you can make from dandelions?
Join us in this class to learn how to collect and process these amazing plants. Learn recipes with dandelion greens, use dandelion flowers to make jams, teas and wines, and go over the beneficial properties of dandelion roots. We will taste, create and make some delicious dishes. This is an in-person class. If a student cancels within 10 days of class. The class becomes non-refundable.

Bon Appetite Italiano
with Sharon Sperry, Central Lincoln County Adult Education

You will have the opportunity to cook a four course Italian meal. Your hard work in the kitchen will be followed by a sit down dinner beginning with roasted tomatoes with basil/ burrata with focaccia, followed by chicken marsala and garlic buttered noodles as the main course and lemoncello tarimisu for dessert. You will savor your culinary creation all while sipping on a glass of wine. You will have the added pleasure of enjoying the company of those you have prepared the meal with and will most likely take home leftovers. Bring take home containers with you, just in case!
Sharon Sperry is a retired Head of International Schools who has had a passion for cooking her entire life. She’s cooked for ambassadors, kings and, of course, children and their teachers. She invites you to share her enthusiasm for good food enjoyed with family and friends.
Hampden-Barre Class Session 2

Elevate your fitness routine with our 6-week Barre series! Kris Eschman will teach this energizing class that blends ballet-inspired movements and strength training with light weights for a full-body workout that tones muscles, improves balance and posture, and builds flexibility. Perfect for all levels, each session incorporates small, controlled movements and isometric holds designed to target and sculpt every muscle group. No dance experience or equipment is required—just bring a mat, or use one of ours!
