Prosperity and Good Fortune: Chinese Wonton Dumplings

Craft Chinese dumplings with made-from-scratch pork filling. Learn the multiple styles of folding dumplings using wonton wrappers. Then we’ll boil the wonton to make a classic wonton soup or chili oil wonton. Additionally, we’ll learn to make our own Sichuan-style chili oil and discover other common Chinese condiments used for dipping sauces. All ingredients, materials, equipment and recipes will be provided. Plant-based ground meat can be substituted for the pork upon request. Dumpling wrappers include gluten.

Beginner Guitar

It's fun to play the guitar and you can't go wrong learning from a seasoned instructor and musician like Travis. Focus on learning the names of the strings and the first position notes before progressing to chords and strumming patterns. Before you know it, you will be playing music! No class 2/19.

Bring a nylon or steel-stringed acoustic guitar, picks (plectrums), an electronic tuner and the book Hal Leonard Method Complete Set (approx. $20–$25).

Travis Taylor has been playing guitar for a number of years and has been a member of a local band for quite some time. Additionally, he has more than 10 years experience teaching guitar in the Saco school system.

During this class you will hit multiple muscle groups and burn calories in a workout that is designed to strengthen the cardiovascular system, tone muscles and boost balance, flexibility and endurance. Everyone can work at their own pace and fitness level. There will be progressions and regressions for each exercise. The goal is to leave sweaty, with a smile and feeling empowered! Please bring your own exercise mat and a set of hand weights. Water is also highly encouraged!

Improv for Healing the Heart

Create connection to yourself and to others through improvisational theater exercises led by a trained and experienced actor and theater educator. We will learn the “rules” of improv technique, like the practice of saying “Yes, And..”! We will share laughter and enjoy surprises while exploring play, using our imagination and collaborating with others. Improv is a wonderful tool for toning the mind and body. Practice the art of performing through intuitive play! Elise Voigt is an actor and theater educator with over 20 years of experience. Experience the joy of drawing without the pressure of perfection. This session prioritizes the process over the product, encouraging you to let your imagination flow freely. Whether you're a seasoned artist or picking up a pencil for the first time, you'll discover a space where relaxation and creativity intersect. All drawing supplies will be provided, allowing you to dive right in. However, feel free to bring your own sketchbook and favorite materials if you prefer. Join us for an evening of fun, exploration, and inspiration–where the only goal is to enjoy the art of drawing!

Karalyn Thayer has a BFA from the ME College of Art with a background in teaching web and graphic design. She creates her art with the use of mixed-media illustrations and loves experimenting with at-home printmaking.

Experience the exciting art of looking! When you draw, you learn to see things again for the first time. Line, light and shadow, space, and perspective all come together to create an image. In this class you will discover how each of those elements work to produce a great piece of art! We will also be trying out some different tools such as blending sticks and erasers; and different mediums such as pencil and charcoal.
