Cross-country Skiing for First Timers

This class is for anyone who has never skied or who hasn’t skied in years, wants to brush up on the basics, and have some fun this winter. We’ll start from the beginning and build on the basics while enjoying different places to ski. We’ll talk about equipment, techniques, and explore a different ski trail every week as conditions permit. You’ll need your own equipment. The first meeting will begin at Camden Hills Regional High School field house beside the athletic fields. We may need to adjust this schedule and travel distance based upon availability of skiable areas.

Explore gentle warm up stretches, meditations, and creativity including mindful art, journaling, and doodling! You are invited to listen to your body, thoughts, inner guidance, and do what feels right for you. Progress, not perfection, is the goal as we explore various techniques together, noticing what practices are resonating with you. Benefits of these practices include reduced stress and anxiety, regulation of the nervous system, relaxation, a sense of calm, a boost to your energy, connecting to the present moment, and lighthearted fun. Please dress comfortably, bring water, and a yoga mat.

Martha Fournier is a registered yoga and mindfulness teacher (RYT-200), certified mindful art and yoga teacher, a qigong and meditation guide, certified life coach, Reiki master, and also practices Sound Healing. 

Stacking Rings

If you love to mix and match your rings, this workshop is perfect for you! Each student will create three small rings, exploring various textures such as stamping and hammering to embellish them. After crafting the rings, you'll attach a small bezel and set two stones. You'll have the freedom to design your rings and decide how they will stack together. No prior experience is required, and all materials are included. Join us to create a unique and personalized set of stackable rings! Instructor: Alice Carroll

with EACEC Team, Ellsworth Adult and Community Education

Calendar Jan 27, 2025 , runs for 17 weeks

Ellsworth Adult & Community Education is working with MDI Hospital and Birch Bay Village to offer a Certified Nursing Assistant course.

This course is a hybrid with classroom sessions live online using ZOOM on Mondays and Tuesdays, 5:00p-8:30p; and lab sessions held in-person for 6 Wednesday evenings, followed by 5 in-person clinical sessions.

CNA Plus also offers BLS, CPR & First Aid, Digital Literacy Certification and a WorkReady credential. Pre-requisites are access to high speed internet, basic computer skills and a computer.  

Interested students can begin on the Northstar Digital Literacy and WorkReady Credentials starting in October 2024. A packet of materials including a syllabus, schedule, and application will be available here by the beginning of August.

This course is free for Maine residents who plan to work at a facility in Hancock County. It is funded by a Strengthen Maine's Workforce Grant offered by the State of Maine. 

Glass Jewelry Making Class

In this class YOU choose what to make: Dichroic Glass or Fused Glass Jewelry!

The Dichoric Glass students will make a unique beautiful jewelry set that reflects light by stacking metal oxides together. For the Fused Glass students you will place pieces of glass together to create two sets of pendants, pins, and earrings. View the instructors original art on the Mid-Maine Adult Education website.

Dichroic Glass Students: There is a $95 Materials Fee, separate from the registration fee, due to the instructor, check or cash, at the start of the first class.

Fused Glass Students: There is a $50 materials fee, separate from the registration fee, due to the instructor, case or check, at the start of the first class.

You will make approximately 15-20 Pieces of jewelry.

Information is Power. Life can be overwhelming these days with school, work, and family. Stress is a fact of life; we need to learn how to manage it. We will learn how to take advantage of the positive and reduce the negative effects of stress! Anger is one of the most misunderstood over-used human emotions. In this class we will learn how to recognize anger by identifying our anger triggers. We will learn about the three components of anger; the Emotional State, the Expression, and the Understanding. This class will increase your knowledge about how anger affects you. You will learn new ways to cope with anger and set goals to manage anger more effectively. Learning how to manage stress and anger is a way of taking control of your life. It is also a way of staying healthy and happy.
