Worm Composting for Beginners
with Jock Robie, RSU 19 Adult Education
Come and learn how to construct, set up, and maintain a worm bin to compost kitchen vegetable waste in order to recycle it as plant food. Join Jock Robie as he discusses the harvesting of worm castings and vermicompost for gardening and houseplants as well as “worm tea”! Each student will set up their own worm bin with worms to take home. All materials and worms are supplied at no extra charge. Jock Robie has over eight years of practical experience designing, building, and using worm bins to compost kitchen waste. He feeds his 40 worm bins close to 35 pounds per week of kitchen scraps. Applying for Federal jobs is different than applying for jobs in almost any other business or industry. Join representatives from Acadia National Park for a 2-hour workshop to learn about employment opportunities at Acadia, how to write a Federal Resume, and the application process.
Acadia National Park hires more than 100 seasonal and many permanent employees each year into jobs that have great potential for developing into exciting careers. Careers in maintenance, fee collection, education, interpretation, resource management, law enforcement, and more are available. This is a hybrid course. Yo-Yo Christmas Tree
with Mandy Furbush, Noble Adult & Community Education
Can’t get enough making fabric yo-yo’s? In this two-night class you will get to learn how to use the yo-yo to make a festive Christmas Tree decoration that will have friends and family talking. The first night of class you will learn how to make the fabric yo-yo and work to make what you will need for your tree. And in the final class you will begin to assemble the yo-yo's made using glue and various decorative pieces to create your unique tree.
You will need to bring an assortment of Christmas themed fabric cut into 5” squares (at least 50).
Materials fee of $10 payable to the instructor the first night of class.

Writer's Workshop Single Sessions- Gardiner

In this workshop, we'll review the work of experienced, published writers and discuss our own stories to get feedback and ideas to improve them and move them forward. Each class is tailored to suit the needs of the participants, so you can be sure to get the information and ideas you need to succeed. Beginners and experienced writers alike are welcome. Whether you're just starting out or in the messy middle of a draft, attending this workshop will give you concrete, actionable next steps for your specific project.

Sewing & Quilt Weekends
with NACE Staff, Noble Adult & Community Education
Finish those UFOs (aka unfinished objects) or start a new one. Pick up helpful tips from fellow stitchers and make new friends! Escape those constant interruptions at home with over five hours of sewing and camaraderie. Show and tell is encouraged, and no one is too new to join in the fun! Bring handwork or your sewing machine and supplies. Iron, ironing board, cutting mats and rulers supplied.
Space is limited to 16 people so be sure to register early!

Heartsaver Basic First Aid & CPR Adult/Child/Infant Bundle (Dec)

This is a bundled course with Basic First Aid and Heartsaver CPR Adult/Child/Infant
Basic First Aid certifies the student in several critical topics/skills needed to provide immediate lifesaving care for individuals who are dealing with a medical or injury emergency. It also covers environmental emergencies for the lay rescuer.
The CPR course certifies the student in cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills for adults, infants, and children, as well as choking protocols. It also teaches competency in both Automated External Defibrillator use and Narcan. This is an in-person class.
When you bundle a Basic First Aid course with Heartsaver CPR You also have the option to register for just Basic First Aid or just Heartsaver CPR Adult/Child/Infant.
