Holiday Trip to Boston

Let’s go to Boston! Take the train with us and then enjoy the city for the day. Enjoy holiday activities or get your Christmas shopping done. Please arrive 15 minutes before your train is due to depart, and plan your own activities for the day.

Departs Wells Transportation Center at 8:39am and arrives at Boston North Station at 10:30 am.

Departs Boston North Station at 5:20pm and arrives at Wells Transportation Center at 7:08pm.

Please note this trip is on Saturday, December 7, not 12/02 as listed in the brochure.

WOMEN’S BASICS OF PISTOL HANDLING

In a non-threatening safe environment with no live ammunition present, learn the basics of: handgun safety at home; how to handle a pistol safely; parts of a pistol and ammunition; fundamentals of pistol shooting including holding, stance and aiming; common malfunctions; cleaning; and selecting a pistol just right for you. The two-hour semi-private range time is separately scheduled and has a fee of $60 payable to the instructor. If you go to the range, you’ll fire either your own pistol or one from the instructor and try to put five rounds of ammunition through 4 separate target circles at ten feet using only 20 rounds. You will need 50 rounds of ammunition for your personal handgun. If “renting” a pistol from the instructor, she will have 50 rounds of ammunition for you for a cost of $25. To pass this nationally rated course and get certified you must: attend all sessions and actively participate, pass a written examination, and pass the ten-foot shooting qualification, all within two weeks of the last class session. Certification can be used to apply for a Concealed Carry Permit. This class has 2 classroom sessions, meeting on Saturdays. $125 plus two-hour semi-private range instruction.

American Red Cross-1st Aid/CPR Adult & Pediatric - December 2024

Participants in Pine Tree Education's interactive class will learn to confidently provide care for Adults/Children/Infants who have experienced a sudden illness or injury until Emergency Medical Services arrive and take over care. Following national Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines, revised during the COVID pandemic, students will learn to recognize a heart attack, and each will work on their own manikin to learn CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Students will learn how to recognize stroke, and care for breathing emergencies, such as asthma, and choking. First aid skills include the care for burns, bleeding, and other injuries. Instructor looks for attainment of skill level as each skill is taught without a formal testing situation. Optional written tests are available, at no additional cost, but not required for certification. Nationally Recognized Certificate and Ready Reference Cards included.

Babysitter Certification

During this class you will have access to a highly trained instructor who will share the latest information on child care, offer tips, and can answer all of your questions so that you're ready to start your own babysitting business. With lecture and class activities, this class is engaging, informative and fun! You will walk away with a Red Cross Certification in Babysitting! Must be 11 to 15 years of age.

Although every situation is unique, there are some universal skills and techniques that every babysitter should have. Our courses were designed with this principle in mind and can help you deliver the care that families need. Just a few of the things our babysitting class covers include:

Basket Weaving: Maine Pack/Foraging

Learn to weave this traditional, sturdy, medium-sized pack basket (18" X 13" X 10"). The pack size would be appropriate for a young adult or woman. A additional fee would be incurred for a larger size. Students will take the finished product home. Materials and hands-on instruction provided at the class for the basket only. No experience necessary. When you register, you will be given a YouTube link to view a video. Please watch this prior to attending class!

*Harness materials will be available at class for an additional $14 made payable to the instructor.

In this class YOU choose what to make: Dichroic Glass or Fused Glass Jewelry!

The Dichroic Glass students will make a unique beautiful jewelry set that reflects light by stacking metal oxides together. For the Fused Glass students you will place pieces of glass together to create two sets of pendants, pins, and earrings. View the instructors original art on the Mid-Maine Adult Education website.

Dichroic Glass Students: There is a $95 Materials Fee, separate from the registration fee, due to the instructor, check or cash, at the start of the first class.

Fused Glass Students: There is a $50 materials fee, separate from the registration fee, due to the instructor, case or check, at the start of the first class.

There will be a storm make-up class on Nov. 9, if needed. 

Fiber Collage Landscape
