UPcycled Jewelry Design: Make It & take It
with Julie Moser, Sanford Community Adult Education
Join jewelry designer, artist, and educator Julie Moser of MoCo Media for a fun-filled night to play. During this session, you'll be provided with supplies and guidance to make two creations of your choosing (bracelets and/or earrings) incorporating salvaged vintage jewelry, along with contemporary beads, and findings. Choose from pre-selected themes or find your whimsy and make your own creation! This session is fabulous for friends, a birthday celebration, or to make a unique gift for yourself or a loved one.
Estate Planning-Prepare for the Uncertainties of Life Revocable & Irrevocable Trusts-Are They Right For You?
with Kathryn Bedell Esq, Sanford Community Adult Education
This class will begin with an overview of basic estate planning, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, etc. The class will then delve into, learning how revocable trusts can help avoid probate and protect your privacy, and how irrevocable trusts can protect your assets from nursing home or Maine Care (Medicaid) liens. Discussion will include other strategies to safeguard assets from life events such as business failure or divorce of adult children. Kathryn Bedell is a lawyer in York, Maine and has been practicing for 31 years. Her practice focuses on estate planning, asset preservation, and probate matters.
Ghosts and Spirits of Christmas Past and Present
with Rob Gutro, Noble Adult & Community Education
Author and Medium Rob Gutro will talk about why Christmas is a time to watch for signs from spirits, and what signs to look for from your loved ones. He'll also discuss 3 ghosts of Christmas past that he encountered at an historic theatre during the production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."

Holiday Wreath Decorating
with Mary Alice LaPoint, Kittery Adult Education
Decorate a beautiful holiday wreath using natural items such as holly, pinecones, balsam, and recycled Christmas decorations. You will receive a fresh balsam wreath to decorate. Participants are encouraged to bring unused Christmas decorations they have around the house, or greens from your property, giving them a new life on your wreath, or share with the group. If time allows you may also make a swag too. All materials included.

Taming the To Do List
with Jill Braceland, York Adult Education
Identify techniques that will help you organize your personal time. Suggestions offered include prioritizing, creating the “To Do” list, and how we underestimate time. Tips on how to stop procrastinating and being overwhelmed will also be discussed. Jill Braceland has been designing and delivering seminars in a variety of management and writing topics for more than 30 years. She has a reputation of offering seminars that are well organized and practical, and presenting them in an easy, friendly manner.

How Do I Get Enrolled in Adult Education?
The first step in enrolling in Adult Education is Orientation!
What happens during an Orienation?
We are so glad you asked! We want you to be prepared and informed about what to expect during your Orientation session.
During your Orientation Session you will:
- Meet with our student advisor
- Discuss what you would like to accomplish through Adult Education
- Fill out enrollment paperwork
- Sit for academic placement testing
What you should know before you arrive:
- We are located at 377 River Road, Mexico, ME 04257
- The Adult Education is the one that is facing the road
- You should ring the bell and wait for us to buzz you in. Once we do that, you can come right upstairs
- The Orientation process can take a few hours, so please plan accordingly
What you should bring to your Orientation Session:
- A CURRENT Maine Photo ID (Maine drivers license, Maine State ID card, Passport, Military ID, etc. - If you do not have any of those form of Photo ID, please let us know when you come and we can direct you as to the next steps.)

Needle Felting Christmas Angel Morning Session Fall 2024
with Julie Knowlton, Piscataquis Valley Adult Education Cooperative
Intermediate Level
This angel is a special request! It is challenging, but well worth the work! It has a firmly felted core, but a softly felted dress over the top and beautiful gossamer wings! Julie will have some very special blended wool bats in a variety of colors (first come, first serve). Students of this class should have a basic knowledge of needling, spliting your wool horizontally and vertically and managing the direction of your fiber. Julie Knowlton is a retired teacher and has been needle felting for many years. Julie’s class goals are for students to be successful, happy and have a good time crafting. Julie will provide all materials unless otherwise noted. Feel free to bring your own pen tool if you have one. Choose from morning or evening sessions with Julie, or come for both!
Using Software and Devices for Better Health
with Nicole Moran, Bonny Eagle Adult Education
In this class, we will explore apps, software, and devices that help promote and maintain exercise and diet, monitoring blood sugar, blood pressure, weight medication reminders, using FitBits, Apple Watch, etc., and connecting with Bluetooth.
About Nicole: Nicole is an experienced teacher/tutor with a demonstrated history of working in the education industry at the preschool, elementary, middle school, high school and college level. Nicole is genuinely getting to know students to make them more comfortable and to make learning interesting and useful for students in an environment in which they feel safe and respected.
