Beginners Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Basics and Tour.

Learn to SUP with a Maine Registered Guide in a quiet Estuary in Kittery Point, Maine. No experience necessary however must be able to swim. Please wear clothing that you can move comfortably in, can get wet, and will dry quickly. We begin our evening with reviewing The Basics of a SUP, the equipment being used, all safety precautions related to tidal waters, the importance of Boating Laws in Maine as related to the SUP as a vessel, and how to safely launch your SUP, how to enter and exit every body of water, and review wet suit/dry suit benefits. Basic SUP (Five) Paddle strokes are reviewed on land and in the water. After mastering initial safe entry on your SUP and have learned to paddle, we take a short tour of this local estuary and enjoy some local Maine history and perhaps get a glimpse of local Maine Birds. Open to Beginners with all equipment included: Paddleboard, Paddle, leash, and Coast Guard Approved (PFD) Personal Flotation Device with whistle. Limited to 6. Class Meets at Cutts Island Trail/Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge at 3 Seapoint Road in Kittery Point, Maine. Parking along side of road.

Join up-and-coming artisan craftsman and maker Grant Hawkes of Wildfolkwanderer for a weekend making beautiful wooden spoons and plenty of curly wood shavings! Spoons are one of the most universal tools of humanity, being crafted and used across the globe for thousands of years. In this course we will explore the details of spoon carving, diving fully into the process of transforming a freshly cut log into a functional and beautiful spoon using simple hand tools. We will cover tool use and care, wood selection, spoon design, carving techniques, and discussions on craft and the role it plays in our lives as we carve together. Over the weekend, each participant will have the opportunity to work on a couple different projects, completing the course with new skills and utensils to take home.
Date: August 3-4, 10:00 am Saturday to 4:00 pm Sunday
Cost: $300-400 sliding scale, meals and accommodation included (see registration form for more details)

Sebago Lake Historic Tour
with Sebago Trails Paddling, Windham/Raymond Adult Education

Kayak through the natural Maine wilderness and vast lake views for an on the water adventure. This two hour guided tour will begin with a safety briefing and lesson covering the fundamentals of recreational kayaking.
Using the EZ launching system at Sebago Trails Paddling, the tour will explore the water-carved bends and twists of a meandering stream unveiling local wildlife in a rustic backdrop. Then continue onto Jordan Bay of Sebago Lake as the guides share stories dating back to the settlements of the region.
Come for the beautiful lake views and leave with your new favorite hobby! This is a great experience for anyone looking to get outdoors, for a relaxed paced paddle. Perfect for first time kayakers and experienced kayaking enthusiasts.

Reset your day with quiet evening flow with Jazmin. This class begins with centering the mind, followed by poses that will help you wind down from your day, releasing tension in your body. You will stay low to the floor and work into longer holds to give you the space to reconnect with your breath and quiet the mind. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat and a water bottle! Optional Blocks and Blanket.

Lighthouse Lovers Cruise Photography Course

In the first live online class, we'll start by learning camera settings, aperture, shutter, ISO, white balance and other compositional techniques critical to lighthouse photography. The following Saturday, during the Cruise, we’ll focus on photographing the wildlife and lighthouses, sharing techniques and approaches. Finally, we’ll meet online the following week to share, learn and critique our images. Limited to 15 students. This workshop is for beginner and intermediate photographers.
