Sunrise Circuit - Section 1

Start the morning with some movement! Sunrise Circuit is great for all levels of fitness. This circuit style class will work your total body. Get your heart pumping, increase your strength and work on your core during this 45 minute class. All exercises will have a modification and a progression so you can make the most of your morning! No class week of 11/23.

This low-impact workout allows you to work at your own pace and level. It is 50-60 minutes of simple moving, with options to add some light weights (or not), use stretch tubing for resistance training and incorporate an abdominal workout and flexibility stretches. Anyone can do this. Class meets two times a week and includes holidays and school vacations. All levels welcome.

*Please bring a floor mat and 1-5 lb. weights. Drop-ins welcome @ $5/class.

Here's everything to get YOU ready for your next phase of personal growth. Step aerobics using 4 or 6 inch steps or "step mats" (keeps you at ground level)...low impact to set your own intensity. Strength training with weights: meet your own needs for bone density and isolated muscle work to maintain a stronger you. Students should have their own weights and floor mats.

Dianne Mros 

Practice slow movements to help relieve tension, improve balance, and promote overall fitness. Develop breathing techniques to promote calmness and beneficial energy levels. Participants may want to bring a lawn chair, water, and a facemask for chatting before and after class. Class meets at the Great Works School on Academy Street. 4:00pm-5:00pm, Four Monday Sessions September 15-October 5 with a rain date of October 19.

Want to stay active? Get into a walking routine! Join Kathy at the Sorrento-Sullivan Recreation Center for an hour of indoor/outdoor walking depending on the weather. You can saunter, power walk or speed walk. Whatever your pace you can do it safely. Just drop in.

Yoga for Fun and YOU! (Monday Session 1)

This class will be offered online using Zoom, as well as in-person.

Learn to listen to your body for what it wants and needs. Using Kripalu Yoga techniques, learning your own version of postures with modifications as needed. Yoga helps with stress relief; better breathing; increase in strength and flexibility; improved circulation; cardiovascular conditioning; inner peace and more. (All classes will be designed to meet the needs of Beginning yogis and Advanced Beginners practicing yoga).  Drop-ins welcome @ $10/class.  Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothes

Sahaja Yoga is a unique method of meditation developed by H.H.Mataji Nirmala Devi (1923-2011). Through this process, one becomes balanced and integrated mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. In this class you will learn chakra clearing techniques using natural elements and affirmations that will deepen the meditation experience.  Sahaja Yoga does not require physical exerciese and no previous experience is necessary. Jerry voluntarily shares Sahaja Yoga.

Senior Fitness

Calendar Sep 15, 2020 at 10 am, runs for 40 weeks

This class is being offered in-person and online using Zoom.

Designed with the mature person in mind, this class will address the components of over-all fitness at each person's ability level. The class helps you become stronger through cardiovascular activities (strengthening the heart and lungs), muscular strength and endurance (using weights) and flexibility through warm-up and cool-down stretching and yoga. Class meets regularly, and you can start and stop any time, drop-ins welcome. Donations welcome! It is recommended that you bring 1-2 lb weights; wear comfortable clothes that let you move; and gym shoes to give your feet support. Always check with your doctor before beginning an exercise program.
