Layered Wood Art

Join us for a fun morning of painting layers of wood to make a true art statement!  We will be focusing on Maine for our first class.  You can have a lighthouse, with a Moose, bears, or deer. 

Class is $45.  Once you register you will receive an email with the payment information for paypal.

We are limited 10 students.  Everything will be provided to make the lovely work of art.

Price says "free" because you will not be paying us, you are paying the teacher directly.


Garment Sewing

Learn seams, finishes, and techniques used for sewing woven (non-stretch) clothes. Basic sewing machine experience required

Crochet for Beginners


with Margo Truscott, Massabesic Adult and Community Education

Calendar Mar 4, 2024 at 1 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Learn all the basic crochet stitches! By the end of the class, you will make or at least start a simple crochet hat. Bring: a skein of knitted worsted yarn, and a size 8 crochet hook.

Easy Does it Quilted Zippered Bag


with Jacqueline Soper, Bonny Eagle Adult Education

Calendar Mar 4, 2024 at 1 pm, runs for 2 weeks

Learn how to professionally sew this quilted zippered bag with handles and matching eyeglass case as a bonus. Quilting the fabric, inserting a zipper, adding handles and binding the seams will be learned in this sewing class. Store your favorite things or make many and give as gifts. Materials fee of $8 to be paid to the instructor at the first class (Kit includes a 14” wide zipper, white, black, or beige, and special foam batting for the bag). Supply list available from adult ed office.

About Jaki: Jaki Soper has been sewing and quilting for over 40 years. She is the owner of Quilt Studio 55, a local business that supports long arm services, studio classes, and custom quilt designs. Her classes are comprised of learning simple techniques which allow for truing up sewn units to achieve accuracy. If you are interested in mastering the flying geese units in the placemat class, or sewing with curves in the drunkard path class, then these classes are for you.

A non-refundable $1.99 transaction fee will be added to the price of this class.

Drawing & Acrylic Painting for Beginners


with Susan Cannafarina, Bonny Eagle Adult Education

Calendar Mar 4, 2024 at 5 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Begin practicing basic drawing skills and understand how to mix colors. Move on to using different painting techniques by studying various artists’ painting styles and their memorable works. Each class will help you understand how to balance shadows and highlights to bring out details in your drawings and paintings. The paintings you make will be memorable keepsakes to save or give as gifts. Supply list available at adult ed office.

About Sue: Susan is an artist who lived many years in France studying the Impressionists' painting methods (Renoir, Monet, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Pissarro, Picasso and Matisse). She teaches how to apply their techniques in easy to learn steps for beginners and intermediate painters as part of regular classes held at the adult ed department for enhanced learning.

Create a “Hello Spring” Gnome Deco Mesh Wreath W24


with Amy Harrington, Augusta Adult and Community Education

Calendar Mar 4, 2024 at 5:30 pm, runs for 1 week

Amy will supply the materials to make a “Hello Spring” Gnome deco-mesh wreath and will guide you through the process to create a beautiful 24-inch wreath. This Wreath includes a sign that is gnome-shaped. We will have an intermission halfway through the 3-hour class. Amy will provide snacks and drinks. This class is very relaxed and has a fun atmosphere. A $30 materials fee is due to Amy Harrington at the start of class.

Storm date of March 11. Amy is a mom of four and has been crafting for over 13 years.

Amy discovered a passion for wreath-making in 2021 and has been mastering the craft ever since. She enjoys bringing joy to her customers’ homes, warming hearts, and seeing the wonder in her students’ eyes as they say, “I made that!” Amy attends out-of-state workshops and takes classes online from her coaches to stay on top of the up-and-coming trends. She looks forward to sharing her passion with you.

Fun and Simple Sewing Dover Spring 2024

This class is for beginners as well as those looking to refresh their sewing skills. You will be introduced to your sewing machine, common terminology all while making a simple tote to start your sewing journey! Please bring your own sewing machine, thread, pins, bobbins, snippers, needle threader, rotary cutter, quilter’s ruler, mat and fabric. Fabric should be 1 solid yard, and two print yards. *If you do not have a sewing machine but wish to attend, we do have one available for student use. Please call PVAEC to inquire.

Intro to Stained Glass

In this one night class you will learn about the different kinds of glass , how to cut and grind glass. We will be making acid etched hearts. You will be able to take them home that night. Lab fee $10.00 to be paid to instructor at the beginning of workshop.
