Create your own unique sterling silver linked bracelet. There will be a demonstration and plenty of work time for each student to learn the basic techniques and to finish a beautiful piece of jewelry. We will cover soldering, fusing, and light forging

Alice Carroll, who has a BFA from Maine College of Art and an MFA from Rochester Technology of Art, School for American Crafts, was an Artist in Residence at Penland School of Crafts in NC for two years. She came back to Maine in 1994 and has been teaching at Heartwood College of Art, Sanctuary Arts, and River Tree Arts.

 

Build a Box

Calendar Jun 15, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

Use hand and power tools to build a small box of a design you choose with your choice of materials. The class will run three consecutive nights for two hours each night, for a total of six hours of instruction.   

At the end of the class students will have a project they can take home to finish as they wish.  There is a $25 materials fee to be paid to the instructor the first night of class.  All tools and safety equipment will be provided. 

Instructor Rick Gallion has been a professional woodworker for over thirty years and has taught many students the craft of woodworking. His shop is designed as a teaching facility.

Table Saw Basics (June/ Thursdays)

Calendar Jun 18, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 2 weeks

The table saw is the most important tool in the shop. It does more than just cut wood to exact dimensions; it also does joinery, molding, and with a few simple jigs that you can make, it will also do specialty cuts. Learn how to get the most from your saw, how to use it safely, and what to look for when purchasing a saw. The course will be taught using the amazing new SAWSTOP, the saw with the built-in brake system that prevents injury from a spinning blade. No materials needed.

The Router is the second most important power tool in any shop. It is also the most versatile. Learn the basic techniques of using this tool, some of the shop made jigs that make it do more, and what to look for when purchasing a router. No materials needed.
