Learn to sew! In this class you will learn both machine sewing and hand sewing techniques. In machine sewing you will learn how to make a small envelope pillow with pillow insert, a zippered pouch, a key fob, and small tote among other things. Along the way you will also learn sewing machine safety and sewing basics such as how to use and care for the machine, measuring and cutting fabric, and use of sewing tools. In hand sewing you will learn the whipstitch, ladder stitch, and how to sew on a button. Sewing machines will be supplied but feel free to bring your own working machine if you'd like. Tools will be supplied. Class is suitable for ages 10-13.

In this workshop for beginners and intermediate woodworkers, you will learn the steps of making hand-cut dovetails for boxes, cases, and many other wooden pieces. You will learn layout, cutting and chopping dovetails with hand tools to make a small wooden step stool. You may bring your own chisels, but Factory 3 will provide all needed tools, and the class will begin by learning to sharpen hand tools

In the first live online class, we'll start by learning camera settings, aperture, shutter, ISO, white balance and other compositional techniques critical to lighthouse photography. The following Saturday, during the Cruise, we’ll focus on photographing the wildlife and lighthouses, sharing techniques and approaches. Finally, we’ll meet online the following week to share, learn and critique our images. Limited to 15 students. This workshop is for beginner and intermediate photographers.
