Come to one or all sessions, and learn how to make your technology work for you. Bring your lunch, and then stay at Winthrop Workspace as long as you like, use what you’ve learned, with Tech Coach Linda available for questions.

Using those Tech Gifts - Did someone give you a gift that’s a little out of your league – maybe a digital photo frame, a tablet, or an e-reader? Bring it into class to learn how to use it.

Better Crafting using Technology - Do you knit, crochet, cross-stitch, quilt, sew? There are many resources online that can help you with your crafting! Apps for your phone, programs for your computer, and websites to support your hobby!

Curious about 3D Printing? What is 3D printing all about? How expensive is a 3D printer, and how do you choose one? What does it print with? Where can you find printable designs, for free or for sale? How do you design your own things to print? This is a very beginner's discussion!

Internet Safety -  Is this link safe to click? Should I respond to this email? Is this a scam? How to evaluate the constant barrage of information in email, Facebook, and websites. Password security - how to create good passwords, and how to manage them!

Tech Tips Q & A -  Do you have a tech question that's too embarrassing to ask your grandkids? Email it before the session, and it will become one of the topics of our class, without identifying the source!

Using CANVA to make your graphics -  Canva is a free-to-use online graphic design tool. You can use it to create social media posts, presentations, posters, videos, logos, and more.

What is AI, and how can I use it? Demonstration of using ChatGPT - it can answer your questions, write copy, draft emails, and hold a conversation, based on prompts that you give it. If you like, sign up for an account and try it out!

Social Media Marketing Creating an online presence for your small business, a brief overview of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Creating images and videos, and posting to social media.

Your Digital Legacy - What happens to your online accounts when you pass away? How to set legacy contacts for your accounts, or have them automatically removed.

Disaster Planning – Backups and more What happens if you lose your phone or laptop? How can you be sure you can recover your information? We will look at cloud backup solutions for your phone and laptop.

Apps for Fun and Brain Power - We will look at some apps that are fun and challenging. Word puzzles, brain teasers, and more!

Deer Fawn Paint Night

Handbuilding Pottery April 25-May 30

Calendar Apr 25, 2024 at 5 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Handbuilding encompasses the use of four types of clay. Each clay including porcelain, terra cotta, white stoneware, and brown stoneware will have its own hand-built project. There is an additional $20 material fee due to the instructor the first night of class. Limited to 6 participants during each session

Stained Glass for Beginners Spring 2024

Students will learn the Tiffany style of stained glass, consisting of cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering. All tools and supplies are included for the first three pieces. Students will create a beginner learning piece, a night light, and a candle holder. Students can purchase additional materials from the instructor if they choose to make more pieces.

Dusty Trombley has been working with stained glass for over 40 years. She has taught over 1000 people in many different adult ed classes. She has done a lot of repair work including church windows and developed pieces from photographs. Dusty enjoys the creativity that glass allows. 

Dusty welcomes students of all ages however, students under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Yoga + Strength

Calendar Apr 25, 2024 at 5 pm, runs for 6 weeks

This hour long class will ground students in yoga postures and breathing and once warmed up we will incorporate gentle strength training for core and upper body. Class will conclude with guided relaxation. All experience levels are welcome. The instructor will offer modifications. Please join us for this wellness opportunity!

Students will need a yoga mat. Yoga blocks 3"x6"x9" suggested, but not required. We will have supplies, such as mats and blocks, available for purchase.

Basic Landscape Drawing

There's no better way to draw a landscape than to experience and observe it in person. Learn about the tools, materials, and techniques plein air artists use to capture their natural surroundings using pencil and wash on paper. The initial class will take place inside where observational drawing, composition, approach, and supplies will be discussed. The following three classes will take place at selected locations within five miles of the WRAE classroom. A suggested supply list will be provided.
