Vegetable Gardening

This is an in-depth class on growing vegetables and herbs. From kitchen gardens to large vegetable plots, this class will cover all the details for successful and delicious vegetable production. Starting from seed to storing the harvest, you will learn about the many facets of vegetable gardening. Topics include design, managing the soil, starting from seed, transplanting, season extension, integrated pest management practices, using cover crops, pests and diseases, maintenance, irrigation, and specific vegetables.

Chess, the King of Games F24

In this three-week class, we'll look at chess notation, the relative value of the pieces, and basic ideas in the chess openings. We will play games, or analyze games, depending on your wishes. You may bring your own chess set or use the instructor's set.
There's nothing better than the game of chess for these long Maine winters. It keeps the marbles rolling and is very good for the memory.
You may want to purchase the inexpensive paperback HOW TO WIN IN THE CHESS OPENINGS, I.A. Horowitz. It's old but excellent, like a fine wine!
Cold Weather Scones

Time to get out the sweaters and have some tea! Scones are the perfect accompaniment! In this 3 hour class we will make Harvest Pumpkin Scones, Double Ginger Scones, Savoy Hotel Classic Scones, Maple Bacon Scones and Cranberry Orange scones. All ingredients provided as well as instruction. No experience needed. Be sure and bring a container to take home samples that you do not eat on the spot! You will FALL in love with the flavors
Gentle Yoga

This gentle class is for those looking to stretch, connect to the breath and practice traditional yoga postures, at a slow pace. We gently and safely encourage our muscle tissues to deeply lengthen and stretch, increasing range of motion and flexibility. Conscious intention and awareness are given to the breath, strengthening the nervous system and deepening the connection to mind and body. This class is designed for new, as well as, seasoned yogis looking for a mindful, gentle practice.
