Starting from seed to storing the harvest, you will learn about the many facets of vegetable gardening. Topics include design, managing the soil, starting from seed, transplanting, season extension, integrated pest management practices, using cover crops, pests and diseases, maintenance, irrigation, and specific vegetables.

In this three-week class, we'll look at chess notation, the relative value of the pieces, and basic ideas in the chess openings. We will play games, or analyze games, depending on your wishes. You may bring your own chess set or use the instructor's set.

There's nothing better than the game of chess for these long Maine winters. It keeps the marbles rolling and is very good for the memory.

You may want to purchase the inexpensive paperback HOW TO WIN IN THE CHESS OPENINGS, I.A. Horowitz. It's old but excellent, like a fine wine!

This gentle class is for those looking to stretch, connect to the breath and practice traditional yoga postures, at a slow pace. We gently and safely encourage our muscle tissues to deeply lengthen and stretch, increasing range of motion and flexibility. Conscious intention and awareness are given to the breath, strengthening the nervous system and deepening the connection to mind and body. This class is designed for new, as well as, seasoned yogis looking for a mindful, gentle practice.
