Do you like to dance and have a good time? Come on out and give line dancing a try! This class is tons of fun and a great way to get some exercise without knowing it. We will learn choreographed dances to the newest music, some country and much more. Our class will start super simple and we will kick it up a small notch at the end for those who like a challenge or have already done this before. No experience or partner is necessary. Students are asked to wear shoes without grips on the bottom. Melissa Willemse has been dancing for more than 25 years and began to teach to share her passion with others.

MaineGeneral's Harm Reduction Program leads training and conversation on Overdose Response and Narcan Administration. The presentation will begin by discussing what harm reduction means, and what opioids are, before identifying what an opioid overdose looks like. The training will then discuss steps for responding to an overdose, and close with a conversation about the Good Samaritan Law. Attendees are invited to ask any questions and/or share experiences throughout. Every attendee will be offered a Narcan kit and educational materials to take home.

A Look Back at Early Tourism in Scarborough, Maine

History buffs, check this out! This presentation takes a look at the early summer hotels and cottages in Scarborough that attracted tourists, the modes of transportation that brought visitors here, and the factors that caused their decline. During the Wilderness Movement in America in the late 19th century, many city dwellers in the northeast found they could escape the unclean water, dirty streets and polluted air of the nation’s large cities by vacationing in Maine.

Advanced Drawing from Life
with Patrick Corey, Windham/Raymond Adult Education
This course builds on Basic Drawing from Life. Students will focus on expressive line and mark making using mixed media, introduce limited color to their, look at famous artists and produce a pastiche (i.e., create a work of art that imitates the style of an artist), explore different approaches, and work from subjects like still life, a live model, and self portraiture. A suggested supply list will be provided.

Askable Adult

The Askable Adult Campaign is brought to us by The Vermont Network (https://www.vtnetwork.org/askableadult/). This training focuses on how adults can be more approachable and easier for youth to talk to. During our 4 sessions we will have time to reflect, build skills, and build a community of askable adults to lean on in the community. Gretchen is a Preventionist at SARSSM with a background in education and engineering. She has been at SARSSM since January 2024 and loves bringing education to the community.
