Driver's Education: Morse High School w/Chris
with Chris Brilliant, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
Ages: 15 - 19
Parents are required to attend the last 30 minutes of the first class AND participate in a ride-along with your child for the last hour of their 10 hour driving lessons requirement. Please Note: There is a make-up fee for missed classes.

Are you between ages 15 and 19 and want your State of Maine permit to prepare for your driving exam? We offer driver education courses to help build strong, safe, and confident drivers. Students are awarded an instructional permit upon successful completion of the course with a grade of 80 percent or better. Only employee discounts are allowed, but you must call to register. If the student has a medical condition, please contact the office or click on the link below as an additional medical form is required. Total hours of instruction is 40; 30 classroom and 10 driving. Full payment of $560 is required at the time of registration. If a student withdraws from the course, $75 is withheld from the refund to cover program costs. Only employee discounts for this class. Please bring your birth certificate or passport to the first class and a pen to every class as well as glasses for your eye exam, if you wear them.

Machining Part 1 - February 2025
with Ben Scott, Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education
This course is for beginner students. Included is basic machine shop safety, determining speeds and feeds, proper use of dial calipers and micrometers, theory, and basic set up and operations of a milling machine and lathe. Upon course completion, students may enroll in Machining Part II. Bring safety glasses and wear reinforced-toe shoes to class. Please be sure to complete the 2-part form at this link to complete your registration.

They will enroll you in the program, and schedule necessary assessments to ensure a smooth transition for your path to college!
This course is designed to help adults improve their writing, proofreading, editing, and revising to prepare for the general expectations of college English and college writing. We will cover the basics of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph development, and will eventually write effective essays with clear ideas, smooth transitions, and logical support. We will practice planning, research, prewriting, and organizing our writing. We will learn to write different types of essays, to properly format them, to cite sources, and to avoid plagiarism. Learning to proofread for punctuation, usage, content, and support will be emphasized. This is an in-person class with asynchronous work on Schoology, a learning management platform.
Emily Nash brings many years of experience teaching adult education and has strong skills in designing curriculum to meet the real needs of students. She’s respectful and sensitive to the needs of adult learners and is always a good listening ear. She loves to read, and between stints as an adult education teacher, she is a seasonal professional landscaper. Emily is a student advisor, and teaches English, HiSET prep and Multilingual Learners.

his two-session class teaches participants how to create their first Facebook Page for a business, nonprofit, or cause. We also go over inviting friends to like your page, producing content, and page management in order to have a successful page on Facebook. This course is held at the Adult Learning Center in Cornish, however, we will have an online instructor from the National Digital Equity Center delivering the material. Requirements for this class: A computer or tablet connected to the internet and a Facebook account. Please pre-register as space is limited.

The word "witch" conjures up many complicated images. That being said, have you ever been curious about what a modern day witch is, and what they do? Have you been interested in divination, herbalism, crystal energy, energy work, and the paranormal? Then come join us to learn what it means to be a witch in the 21st century.
You'll learn about different types of witchcraft, ethical basics, types of divination, how to research different paths, deity work, and more. Above all youll learn how to empower yourself as you follow your own unique path.

Class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreograhphy that focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Come ready to sweat, and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong!
Algebra
with Vanessa Richards, Ellsworth Adult and Community Education
Learn algebra in a fun and relaxed atmosphere including direct instruction, hands-on activities and online learning. To be successful in algebra, you should be somewhat confident in operations with arithmetic. If you need to brush-up on the basics, we have courses to get you ready for this college prerequisite, high school diploma-level course. This college pre-requisite course is offered for high school diploma credit.

Vanessa loves working with adult learners. She is really easy to be around and makes people extremely comfortable; she even makes learning math and computers fun! She is committed to helping adults discover their strengths, build their confidence, and realize they can accomplish their goals. In her free time, she loves to travel and explore the outdoors. Vanessa teaches math, science, technology, and provides college and career advising.
