Ballroom Basics is a six-week session covering two ballroom dances, Fox Trot and East Coast Swing. The goal is to feel comfortable dancing through a full song - and have fun! Perfect for beginners and returning dancers - strong basics are for everyone. You will receive in-class instruction, handouts, and a weekly follow-up email. No partner or dance experience is necessary, just bring your willingness to learn!

Have you started to learn chords and songs, and are you looking for more formal instruction or the next step in your guitar playing? This class will build your confidence and take you to the next level. Jeffrey will teach you about music and songs, and different styles of music, and help you advance your guitar playing ability.

Have you always wanted to learn how to knit? Or has it been a long time since you've picked up the needles? Maybe you're stuck on a project. Join us in a relaxed and fun atmosphere! You'll learn how to cast on, knit and purl, read a pattern, as well as repair mistakes in an easy-going class. It's fun to be part of a creative community. All levels are welcome. You'll need a skein of light-colored Red Heart Worsted Weight yarn and a pair of size needles (size 7 or 8 is best). Other small supplies will be discussed. Get ready to learn how to make all kinds of items suitable for gift-giving. One of Vicky’s favorite patterns is a dead fish hat which she is happy to share. Get ready to laugh with Vicky, she certainly makes knitting fun. Sessions are taught separately, with no prior experience required.

When you meet with the Adult Education director, an individualized plan will be created that works for you, your specific needs, and life situation. You will be given an account to work in a self-paced style program with HiSET and progress from there. When ready, you can take practice tests, and eventually the exams. There are five tests in total in five subject areas; Math, Science, Social Studies, English Reading, and English Writing. When necessary, we will set you up with a tutor in the subjects that you need a little more support with. This Spanish course is perfect for beginners or for those who have taken Spanish before but have forgotten most of it. Learn to speak and understand Spanish quickly and easily.

The course helps you build a foundation by presenting interesting conversations followed by progressive grammar lessons and exercises.  It is a slow to medium pace course. Textbook included.

Open to beginners and those who wish to refresh their Spanish skills. No class the week of 4/21.

Carlos Rosales is a native speaker from Latinoamérica and works with the farm working community in Downeast Maine. He has lived in Maine for 19 years and earned his bachelor's degree in Applied Science from the University of Maine at Augusta.  Carlos enjoys sharing and teaching his native language with others.
