Personal Injury for Paralegals

Personal injury law is a specialized area of litigation that calls for the right specialized training. Our Injury for Paralegals Course will prepare you to plan an integral role in every case from intake and pre-litigations to trial preparation and settlement. You will learn many of the legal terms, causes of action, and remedies available to victims of personal injury accidents. A review of the negligence theory of torts upon which many personal injury claims are based is provided. Students also will discuss interviewing, investigating and other case-building techniques vital to a personal injury paralegal’s success in the law office. Class discussions and lesson material will include the different kinds of personal injury claims, including (but not limited to) car accidents, slips and falls, medical negligence/malpractice, manufacturer product defects, and class-action lawsuits. Discover the basic categories of damages recovery, statutes of limitations, and schemes for liability.

Become a victim advocate for domestic violence shelters, crisis centers, and hotlines, and assist crime victims in the criminal justice system. Learn legal terminology, legal process, victims’ rights, jurisdiction and venue, ethics, effects on the victim, victim advocacy skills, guardianships, and crisis intervention. We’ll also cover counseling skills for victims of assault, battery, robbery, domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, murder, and homicide.

Wheel Pottery NOON Class (April 24-May 29)

Class for wheel pottery involves learning about the basics of clay and forming on the pottery wheel. Beginners start with centering and forming and by the end of the six-week class can make small bowls or cups and have completed at least 7-8 items which they have been glazed and fired. There is an additional $20 material fee due to the instructor the first night of class. Limited to 6 participants during each session.

Robin's Zumba® classes have been running strong for over 13 years through the Wells Ogunquit Adult Ed. Zumba® is dance exercise for people who don't consider themselves dancers but love to dance. The hour flies by and you will get a great workout. Robin uses fun, high energy music and the moves are basic and repeated enough times so that you really know them. Plus one of the best things about Zumba® is the emphasis on modifying the moves to make them your own.  Questions about the class? Piloxing® is back! A group exercise that blends Pilates, boxing and dance. A high-energy workout that involves heart-pumping, powerful boxing combinations & Pilates-influenced movements.

Please bring a yoga mat and optional lightweight Piloxing® gloves (also available for purchase.) Class can be done barefoot, in yoga socks or sneakers.

Class can be done in-person or virtually with a Zoom account (camera must be left on and participant visible.)

WEDNESDAYS • 6:30-7:30pm $37 per session OR $10 drop-in rate!

SESSION 2: APRIL 24, MAY 1, 8, 15, 22 (makeup date MAY 29 if needed)
