Plant Based Eating for Healthy Living

In this class, we will explore some basics of healthy plant-based eating, with an educational focus on a healthy whole food plant-based diet. Takeaways will include some dos and don’ts to look out for and evidence-based approaches to making healthy eating an enlivening, rewarding, and nourishing experience. Estate Planning and Revocable Trusts & Irrevocable Trusts

This class will begin with an overview of basic estate planning, including Wills,Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, etc. The class will then delve into,learning how revocable trusts can help avoid probate and protect your privacy, andhow irrevocable trusts can protect your assets from nursing home or Maine Care(Medicaid) liens. Discussion will include other strategies to safeguard assets from life events such as business failure or divorce of adult children.
Kathryn Bedell is a lawyer in York, Maine and has been practicing for 31 years. Her practice focuses on estate planning, asset preservation, and probate matters.

Peabody Essex Museum and Hawthorne Inn

Come join us to visit and see the new three floor addition to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem Massachusetts. We will start with a private tour. After the tour, you will be able to enjoy the museum on your own. We will finish the museum visit at 12:30. We will have lunch (which is included in the price) at the historical Hawthorne Inn with a choice of one of four menu selections. We will return to Wells High School approximately at 4:00.Limit of 7 people.
Open Studio Ceramics (Thursday Sessions)

Are you comfortable with your clay abilities and just looking for a place to work and improve your skills? Join us in the Morse High School Ceramics Studio and start making all those things you have been dreaming up! This is not an instructor lead class, but the instructor will be on site working in case you need something. $65 for materials and studio fee, payable to instructor, must be paid on the first night of class. *Purchasing additional clay: The fee is an additional $65 to cover the firing, glazes and other consumables used during class. Please note: If you miss a class, you cannot make-up the class at another time. The ceramics schedule is very tight and these classes are usually full. Illustrating Flora & Fauna with Watercolor and Ink

This all-levels class integrates pen and ink techniques with watercolor. Students will learn principles of illustration flora and fauna, focusing on one specimen each week. Each week will focus on a new subject, such as a wildflower or fish, with subjects gradually increasing in complexity. At the end of the course, students will have gained techniques for painting and drawing in their own unique style. Students can either buy themselves the required materials - the materials list is linked here - or they can buy material kits from the Mix, an art store in Brunswick (here is a link to a student-grade kit, and here is a link to an artist-grade kit). *No Class: 11/27.

Coastal Navigation Fundamentals (Level 1)

Learn the basics of coastal navigation using local charts, parallel ruler, and dividers. Learn what the symbols mean, how to determine safe and dangerous routes, create courses, learn rules of the “road”, what aids to navigation look like and do, plan for emergencies and more. For kayakers, sailors, powerboaters, and future Registered Maine Guides. Students will need access to either a Casco Bay Chart or Penobscot Bay Chart, parallel ruler and dividers. This course is offered via Zoom over two sessions. This is a LEVEL 1 program.
