You know quilting…machine, fabrics, large surface areas…..UGH. Now you can create a beautiful frameable quilt made from luxurious paper!!! Using geometric and decorative paper punches, canvas boards, and quilt square designs, create a gorgeous paper quilt square you can frame. Jeffrey has been creating actual quilts since he was a young guy growing up with quilting grandmothers in the mountains of West Virginia . He has switched to creating paper quilt collages and is eager to share with you this new type of art. You will leave with your own frameable piece of quilt art.

Youth Mattering Practices for Stronger Bonds and Social Connection

Dive into relational strategies that foster youth mattering. Experiencing mattering is linked with a significantly lower risk of considering suicide, substance use, and improved lifelong health outcomes. This work begins in early childhood education. Integrating discussion questions, participants will have an opportunity to learn the key ingredients of mattering and to practice mattering strategies with one another that they can bring to their work in early childhood education, caregiving, and community building.

Maine’s compassionate end-of-life care option is the subject of a great deal of confusion and false information. Although Maine’s Death with Dignity Act has been in place since September 2019, most patients and medical personnel are still unaware of it. Learn how to talk about it with your doctor, how to comply with the law or how to help a family member who might qualify.

Maine Driving Dynamics

The Maine Driving Dynamics course is a driver improvement course that is designed to improve a student’s defensive driving awareness. This five-hour course includes discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. Our goal is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce vehicle-related crashes. A student who completes the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record and may be eligible for insurance discount. PLEASE NOTE: This class will take place on Saturday, 11/8, not 11/5 as listed in the brochure.

Ultimate Beginner Watercolor: Level 3

Join Catherine for this 1 night class to learn new ways to incorporate mixed media techniques in your work. Create depth, texture and interest with gouache, fluid acrylic, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, dual tipped markers and posca pens (and more). Class will start with a refresher on color and techniques covered in previous levels and then transition to discuss new ways to think about layers while introducing various mixed media supplies. We will spend the rest of class playing with a variety of materials to incorporate new and old techniques to complete a fun and uplifting illustration. Materials fee: $20.
