Capturing Layered Landscapes with Watercolor and Ink

Learn strategies for demystifying landscapes, and capture them with watercolor and ink. This all-levels class welcomes students of all experience levels, and builds skills through a series of exercises. Students will learn to use dip pens with ink and build layers with watercolor, utilizing additional tools such as wax crayons to effectively build layers. Students can either buy themselves the required materials or they can buy material kits from the Mix, an art store in Brunswick.

What’s all the ‘buzz’ about Beekeeping?

Have you ever wondered what it takes to keep honey bees? Join NACE as we welcome Peggy McLaughlin to our program for an introduction to beekeeping class. In this five-night class Peggy will help teach you the basics of hive setup, bee biology, seasonal care, and harvesting honey. We will also welcome a State Apiarist from the Department of Agriculture one evening to give a presentation on the best beekeeping practices, colony, management, and hive registration license. Whether you're considering your first hive or simply want to learn more about these amazing pollinators and the roles that bees play in our ecosystem, this class is a great place to start!

Two New England Paranormal Investigations

From two of Rob’s books, you can experience a public paranormal investigation at the Hunt Memorial Library in Nashua, NH with Rob and Monique Toosoon. Their findings revealed three ghosts that were not associated with the building but chose the building as their residence. Together with other paranormal professionals and members of the public they uncovered a haunted secret love, illicit trysts, a ghostly teenage accident victim and haunted paintings. 

In the Ghosts of Linville Manor – Maryland’s Most Haunted House, Rob’s investigation revealed the identities of several ghosts, including one who remains there due to being unjustly accused. This book details that investigation, provides a glimpse of the home's past, and shares many of the supernatural interactions people have experienced.

Whether a beginner or experienced, enjoy a relaxing and supportive environment to  paint from references, still life objects and observation. You  will receive feedback and see what others are working on.  Bring ideas for projects to class for instruction tailored to  your needs, or participate in guided exercises to gain a deeper  understanding of this medium. You may bring your own  supplies, if you prefer to purchase your own supplies, please  request a materials list at registration.
