Fundamentals of Home Canning

Have you ever wanted to try canning, but were unsure how to get started? Or perhaps you are concerned about food safety, and wondering how to ensure that your canned food is both delicious and safe. Well, this is the class for you! Join Allison Carroll Duffy, Master Food Preserver and cookbook author, for this hands-on workshop covering all that you need to know to get started canning your own food. Well cover the basics of safe home canning, including proper procedures, techniques, and use of tools and equipment. Then we’ll learn hands-on--working together as a group and going step-by-step--to make and can a big batch of jam. We’ll use the boiling water bath method, which is the same method you’ll use for making many other canned goods you might want to make at home, including pickles, salsas, chutneys, and fruit. While this class will focus primarily on the boiling water bath method of canning, pressure canning will also be discussed. At the end of the class, there will be plenty of jam to taste, and each participant will go home with a jar of jam to enjoy...as well as all the know-how you need to start canning confidently at home! *A materials fee of $10 must be paid to the instructor on the first night of class.

Rob will guide you through building a marketing plan to help turn your story into a successful self-published title.

Instant Guitar for Hopelessly Busy People on ZOOM

Have you ever wanted to learn the guitar but simply find it difficult to find the time? In just a few hours you can learn enough about playing the guitar to give you yearsof musical enjoyment, and you won’t have to take private lessons to do it. This crashcourse will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favoritesongs right away. Since this class is being held online with ZOOM, you will be able tosit at home with your guitar and take this class without any pressure at all. And sincethe class includes an online book and online follow-up video lessons, you will be ableto continue your practice and study on your own. An optional periodic online questionand answer session is also included. A recording of the class is included as well. Class limited to 15 students. For ages 13+.

Driver's Education: MCAE Topsham

Ages: 15 - 19
Parents: It is vital that your student arrive on time for class. Due to late arrivals, students have fallen short of their 30 hours of class time and must make up the time. Because the State of Maine requires 30 hours of class time, if your student arrives late, they will be turned away, and a charge will apply (below) for the class to be made up. It is very important that your student arrives on time. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions. Thank you for your understanding.

Class and Driving Makeup Fees:
- Classroom: $40/hr
- Driving: $80/hr
Please bring a birth certificate or passport to the first class and a pen to every class. Parents/Guardians must attend the last 45 minutes of the first class and participate in a ride-along with their child, which will be scheduled by the instructor and the parent or legal guardian.

Are you between the ages of 15 and 19 and want your State of Maine permit to prepare for your driving exam? We offer driver education courses to help build strong, safe, and confident drivers. Students are awarded an instructional permit upon successfully completing the course with a grade of 80 percent or better and completing the required hours of instruction. The total hours of instruction are 40; 30 are in the classroom, and 10 are behind the wheel. A full payment of $575 is due at the time of registration. If a student withdraws from the course, $75 is withheld from the refund to cover program costs. Only employee discounts for this class. Please call Merrymeeting to register by phone if you are employed by MSAD 75, RSU 1, Brunswick, or Wiscasset school departments. The list is available on our website for students with a medical diagnosis. Please contact the office or click the link below for the required CR-24 medical form.
