Latin Dance

Latin dancing is contagious: once you start, you might never want to stop. Dance develops balance and coordination, physical, mental, emotional, and social abilities. Paint Night: Stone Bridge

Stone Bridges are old and beautiful and there's lots of them right here in Maine. In this class you will learn to paint a foggy stone bridge scene with layers of trees in the distance. No Prior experience is necessary; Shirley welcomes beginners with open arms. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time you’ll find this to be a fun and engaging class. Canvas and paints are supplied.

Pilates: All Levels

If you are familiar with the principles of Pilates and/or have completed the Intro to Mat Pilates w/ Barbara offering you are ready to get down to some practical work. A brief review of basic techniques that underpin all Pilates exercises and then on to foundation exercises and progressive exercises. Joseph Pilates said: "In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you'll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you'll have a whole new body." Let's continue to work toward your postural, musculoskeletal alignment and development,and safe movement. *No Class: 11/26. **Please bring your own mat.
Beginning Fly Tying
with Lane Soltesz, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
Attendees will learn the basic techniques for fly tying and progress to tying flies for catching freshwater fish in Maine's lakes and rivers. Vises, tools, hooks and all supplies needed to produce fishable flies will be provided by the instructor. Class size will be limited to 5-6 students to allow for individual assistance as required. Class will cover tools, hooks, fly size, fly type and construction techniques used to create flies. The student will learn to work with feathers, hair, tinsels, thread, wire, fur, beads and many other materials used in making flies. A materials fee of $25 must be paid to the instructor on the first night of class. *No Class: 2/18.
Chocolate Extravaganza

Chocolate is good for you!! It's full of antioxidants not to mention flavor that can't be beat. Debra will tell you the history of this important ingredient and guide you through making decadent fudge sauce (perfect gift idea!), white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, and molten lava cakes. Recipes and generous samples guaranteed. We will be able to eat these items warm from the oven with ice cream. Sign up early so you guarantee a spot in this yummy fun class. All materials included.
Night Club Dance

Yoga: All Levels

Yoga is one of the oldest "holistic" health-care systems in existence, focusing on both the mind and body. Through the practice of yoga postures and breath work, you can connect with your body and mind and discover your spirit; yoga is the art of listening to all parts of your Self. Hatha yoga postures linked with the breath have a powerful effect on all systems of the body providing the energy to age gracefully, stay fit, improve circulation and posture, loosen and lengthen knotty muscles, reduce stress, increase bone density, and promote relaxation at the end of the day. Please bring a yoga mat. Recommended props include a cushion and/or yoga blanket, blocks, bolster, and strap. *No Class: 11/26 & 2/18. **Please bring your own mat.
NAPKIN BASKET - NEW
with Kathryn Polletto, Wells-Ogunquit Adult Community Education
Participants will make a 6 inch square napkin basket with reed splint to hold your everyday napkins. The student will have a choice of colors to accent the basket. Student will learn how to weave a base, “upset” the sides and rimming the basket. This is a good project for those who have never made a basket, or want to learn more about basket weaving. Please bring: Pencil, Scissor, Awl, Tape measure, 6 Spring clothes pins, bowl & towel.
INSTRUCTOR: Kathryn Polletto is a self taught basket weaver and lives in Kennebunk, Maine. She began weaving more than 40 years ago. She was a resident Basket Maker of the Sandy Spring Museum in Maryland. She has been juried into the Directory of Traditional American Crafts, sponsored be Early American Life Magazine. She has also been juried into well-known Craft Fairs.
