Using the ABC Method for Appropriate Student Behavior

This teacher professional development course prepares you to better understand and support student behaviors using the ABC Method. You will learn how to identify the antecedent to a behavior, the behavior itself, and the consequences of the student exhibiting a particular behavior. You will learn to record data, track and evaluate behaviors, and identify the function of a student's behavior in your classroom. Using the data you have collected and the identified student function, you will generate a hypothesis and an intervention plan to help address and improve your student's behavior.
You will leave the course with an action plan for a particular student that includes a function-based intervention, desired replacement behaviors, and a plan for improvement. You will also leave the course with numerous resources that will help you track behaviors and plan for your intervention using the provided templates.

The outcome of this course is for the learner to describe how happiness, positive experiences, and emotions affect the brain. The relationship between happiness and neuroplasticity, determinants of happiness, happiness assessment tools, and practices to increase happiness will be examined.

Writing Effective Learning Objectives

This teacher professional development course will teach you what a well-structured learning objective is and how to create one. You will learn about different types of lesson planning and explore the benefits of the Backward Design Model. You will analyze the behavior, condition, and criterion of a lesson objective and explore how to write objectives using those components. You will build your lesson objectives by analyzing and "unpacking" your state standards so that you can be assured that every lesson plan you create starts with an objective well-aligned with expectations for your content area and grade level.
You will receive planning documents to help you create your objectives and leave the course with a unit plan of objectives you have built for upcoming lessons.

Writing for Children

Writing Support for English Language Learners

This teacher professional development course will teach you about English Language Learner (ELL) proficiency and how you can support it throughout various content areas. You will learn six strategies to support your students: buddy writing, daily writing, interactive writing, using mentor texts, sentence stems, and vocabulary development. You will also learn how to evaluate your ELL's progress over time.
The course comes with many tools, resources, and templates ready to be used in your classroom as you work to teach writing to ELLs and implement the writing plan you developed throughout this course.

Kripalu Yoga Drop-In Class
with Molly Shields, Ellsworth Adult and Community Education
Improve your flexibility, strength, balance and posture as you move in and out of a variety of yoga poses. All levels are welcome. Leave class feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. This is an in-person class.
This class is designed as a drop-in class and, for the $90 registration fee, you may attended a total of 8 classes between 10/16/24-12/20/24. The class meets on Wednesday and Friday mornings, 10:00am-11:00am.

with Academy of Medical Professions, RSU 19 Adult Education
10/17/24 or online anytime 20-week, in-depth medical coding for CPC certification through AAPC. This program is designed to teach all aspects of medical coding, provide you with the skills needed to become nationally certified and get into the job market as a Certified Professional Coder. This certificate program includes Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, 2 CPC-A exam attempts, AAPC membership, 3 practice CPC tests and all books. Basic computer skills are required.
