Join Catherine for this 1 night class to learn new ways to incorporate mixed media techniques in your work. Create depth, texture and interest with gouache, fluid acrylic, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, dual tipped markers and posca pens (and more). Class will start with a refresher on color and techniques covered in previous levels and then transition to discuss new ways to think about layers while introducing various mixed media supplies. We will spend the rest of class playing with a variety of materials to incorporate new and old techniques to complete a fun and uplifting illustration. Materials fee: $20.

In this class we will be painting a wooded scene with beautiful white birch trees. The cool air and colorful leaves will be sure to get you in the mood for this upcoming fall season. No Prior experience is necessary; Shirley welcomes beginners with open arms. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time you’ll find this to be a fun and engaging class. Explore your creativity through layering paper, paint, trimmings and other found objects in this hands-on collage class. Learn composition, texture, and basic mixed media techniques to create a unique, Christmas tree-themed art canvas to keep or to give as a gift. All skill levels welcome and all materials provided! *Registration deadline is 11/5.

The dryness of fall and winter can often affect our skin. In this class we will learn how to make our very own healing lotion. We will discuss the healing power of common herbs for the skin and how to incorporate them into your creation. We will explore different recipes on how to make lotion for the body and face. This is a great class to take if you are wanting to learn how to make hand-made lotion for holiday gifts! *A $10 Material fee is payable to the instructor on the night of class.

Learn how to transfer hand-drawn imagery onto clay using monoprinting techniques with slip and underglaze. Explore layering, line work, and expressive surface design. Bring leather-hard pots if you’d like, or use provided slabs. All materials included; $20 materials fee payable to the instructor. No experience necessary.

Needle Felting for Beginners: Make a Penguin

Come learn the basics of needle felting and make an adorable penguin about 6 inches tall that will stand on his own anywhere in your decor!  This course is designed for beginners, but those with needle felting experience are welcome.  Fiber color options will be available to choose from for your penguin’s winter scarf and ear muffs.  Materials Fee $15.00 to the instructor at the beginning of the class—cash or check.  All materials will be provided. 

Limit 10 students.

In this class, we will follow step by step instructions to create a multi-layered card. We will use one stamp several times to paper piece a stunning image. We will also make a gift card holder to prepare for the holidays. Precut kits and envelopes are provided. Participants need a pair of scissors and colored pencils or markers.
