Nonprofit Management (ACE CREDIT®)

This online course introduces learners to current management issues for nonprofit organizations. Video commentary on these crucial topics provides insight into how nonprofit professionals apply key concepts in their own organizations. The self-paced course offers an assortment of interactive exercises, videos, selected readings, case studies, and self-assessments that engage students and provide opportunities to practice effective decision making in a nonprofit setting.

This course has been evaluated by The American Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT®) with a recommendation of 3 credits, lower division, in nonprofit management and leadership.
A student's grade in the course will be based on their performance on a final, cumulative exam. The final exam is composed of 50 multiple-choice questions. Students will have 2 hours to complete the exam. The exam is proctored. For more information, please see the syllabus.
If students do not earn a passing score of 70% on their first attempt, they will have the opportunity to take the exam 2 additional times (3 total attempts). Students must wait 24 hours between exam retakes. A passing score of 70% of above is required to request college credit for this certificate.

Operations Management

Medical Coding

WHAT IS A MEDICAL CODER?
As a Medical Biller/Coder you are responsible for reviewing the documentation the physicians have provided and assigning the correct diagnosis and procedure codes, entering the necessary information into the patient’s account and submitting the claims to the Insurance Companies. You are then responsible for tracking and receiving payment from the Insurance Companies and billing the patient when necessary. You will also be responsible for reviewing any denials and researching to make sure that the claim was submitted correctly the first time. If any necessary changes can be made, you are responsible for making the changes and following up with the Insurance Companies.

Who is a Dental Assistant?
The purpose of this course is to gain background knowledge and vocabulary for an entry level position in the clinical or administrative dental setting. Learning media provide specific insight into preclinical and clinical areas of dental assisting, reviewing chapter content and the application of content. Chapters include professional and legal aspects of dental assisting, anatomy and physiology, dental anatomy, infection control and hazardous materials, dental treatment, patient care, dental imaging, preventative dentistry, restorative dentistry, and specialized dentistry. Students will be given the building blocks for DANB RHS content certifications, and access to materials to prepare for this exam. Resume writing (including updated personal resume) and professional development are required for graduation. During each week of our 10-week program we assist the student to build the confidence, skills, and knowledge to assist the dentist and be a valuable member of the dental healthcare team.
