140 Classroom Hours w/ a Clinical Externship
For students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program trains students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Includes hands on labs and a clinical extern- ship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. To be eligible for clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140 hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

CDL Class B License with School and Passenger Bus Endorsement
with Trevor MacKenzie, Lawrence Adult Education
Learn to drive a school bus and earn a Class B Commercial Drivers License with a school bus endorsement. This course uses competency-based curriculum from the Professional Truck Driving Institute of America (PTDIA) and meets the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) voluntary standards.
Successful completion of this course includes 42 hours of classroom instruction, 20 hours of range driving, and 10 hours of road driving. Range and road instruction will only feature school buses with automatic transmissions. This course prepares candidates to pass the State of Maine Class B/Bus Driver Licensing tests.
Qualifications: (1) Students age 21 or older are eligible for a Class B License with school bus endorsement; (2) Applicants must hold a valid Maine driver’s license and have a good driving record; (3) Vision correctable by lenses of at least 20/40. A vision screening will be provided at the first class; (4) Flexibility to schedule driving instruction on Saturdays and Sundays on the range/road.

Begins September 14—Four hour blocks on Saturday or Sunday AM
Begins October 28—Scheduled individually (if written test passed)
Permit Test: Week of October 7

Full payment or approval of third party payment must be received prior to the first class. Plus a $30 refundable book deposit.

CDL Class B: Dump Truck or Bus
with Nancy Frost, Maranacook Adult Education
This class prepares you to meet Maine DMV requirements and gives you the hands-on skills that employers demand. The course consists of 42 hrs of classroom instruction to prepare you for the CDL license process, including written and skills exam. The 30 hours of one-on-one range instruction will prepare you for the road test.
Additional endorsements of Bus, Tank and Hazmat are $10 each. For the bus driving endorsement you must be over 21, have a clean driving record and get a physical exam.
Class fee includes: classroom and behind the wheel instruction, 1 endorsement, state physical exam, delivery of truck for the road exam and all state testing fees. Driving time arranged individually with Instructor.

PVAEC and TCTC are offering a CDL-B course to prepare you for written and road tests for your CDL-B license. Instruction is based on State Laws, Industry Regulations and Equipment Maintenance required for licensing. State of Maine standards for classroom and driving instruction are adhered to during the course. Students spend a good part of their instructional time operating trucks through a combination of on the range practice and road time. Students that successfully complete the program will possess entry-level skills as required by the trucking industry. There will be a pre-employment drug test, and DOT physical (included with tuition costs). Gaining your CDL-B license opens up many employment opportunities including, bus drivers, lineman utility truck, snow plow truck, and more! For more information, please call 564-6525. Certified Group Fitness and Personal Trainer

This program is designed to teach you everything you need to know to enter the health and fitness field as a group fitness instructor and/or personal trainer. Our trainers are highly recognized in this field, with more than 20 years experience, and will provide you hands-on training to pass the national tests through AFAA. The program is all-inclusive and will include AED, First Aid and CPR certifications as well. You may choose to complete both group fitness and personal training, or take one or the other. Lectures are once a week for 10 or 20 weeks. $1,500 or $3,000 for both. All materials included in fee including National Certification Exams. Certified Nurses Assistant - CNA
If you are seeking a challenging and rewarding career in the medical field, this course will provide you with the skills and experiences to be Maine State Certified as a Nursing Assistant. This regional collaboration has allowed us to offer this course at a reduced cost! Skills will be taught in an interactive classroom setting, and a two-week clinical experience will follow. The course will focus on nursing theory and application, including basic anatomy, physiology, and clinical performance. The course will also introduce you to several employers within our region.
Prerequisites: students must successfully pass the CASAS testing and interview screening in order to be admitted to the program. Applicants are encouraged to job shadow a CNA before interviewing. Documentation of a recent medical physical, conducted and signed by a physician, is required before clinical. Students must produce evidence of the following vaccinations: Hep B1, MMR, Tetanus, Chicken Pox, TB and flu shot. Fee for background check is non-refundable.
