Do you or a loved one need help understanding your Medicare options? There are two opportunites to get your Medicare: Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage. When should you take Part A, Part B? Do you need a Medigap (supplement) plan, a prescription drug plan (Part D)? If these questions pique your interest, then this course is for you. Sponsored by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging (SMAA), this course is generously offered free of charge. Donations to SMAA are always gratefully accepted. Only one section is required.

Whether you are a seller, collector, or just have a desire to know more about antiques, this class is designed for the antiquarian in you. Licensed auctioneer, seller, and collector, Gary Lee, covers topics in researching the value and best practices for purchase and sales. He will review sample pieces with an eye to history and value (students may provide pieces for the final three classes.) The second hour of each class will be a review of maker marks and ways to identify fakes, including testing metals and use of blacklight. A presentation on bidding decisions will help you buy at a better price. The course also covers minor repairs, when not to polish or refinish, packing, photography, shipping and more.

Estate planning is the process by which we consider the transfer of wealth or other assets in order to meet a specific goal. Some common estate planning goals include protection of a spouse or disabled child, tax savings, disability planning and business succession planning, among others. Part of the planning process is assembling the appropriate documents that can help you to achieve your goals. This class will help to identify common estate planning goals, as well as to describe the typical documents that are used to achieve those goals, along with a basic review of the probate process.
