Medicare Basics, What You Need to Know

Do you or a loved one need help understanding your options with Medicare? Did you know there are two ways to get your Medicare: Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage? When should you take Part A, Part B? Do I need a Medigap (supplement) Plan … a Prescription Drug Plans (Part D)? How do Marketplace Plans work with Medicare? Are you already enrolled in Medicare and want to better understand your choices for switching plans and potentially saving money during the Annual Open Enrollment Period? If you’ve answered YES to any of these questions, then this session is for you. Sponsored by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging our highly trained SHIP Counselors offer current, relevant, and unbiased information so that you can make an informed decision about your health insurance. This course is generously offered free of charge by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging, donations to SMAA are always gratefully accepted.

Wjile most adults can recite the equation of a straight line (y=mx+b), have navigated the capitals of every state and know how to navigate any awkward situation (Thanks high school!), most weren't taught basic money management skills.  But fear not!  Balancing your checkbook, selecting a new bank account or credit card, creating and maintaining a budget or doing your own taxes - I'll show you how easy it all can be and we'll have fun while doing it!  Bring a laptop if you can, but it is not necessary.
