These training classes will help you work on communication between you and your dog. Discover tricks and techniques to help with certain behaviors. Dogs must have non-chain leashes, a well-fitting collar and current rabies shots. Students under 18 are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult.

PLEASE NOTE:  THIS IS A TUESDAY CLASS!  Participants in Pine Tree Education's interactive class will learn to confidently provide care for Adults/Children/Infants who have experienced a sudden illness or injury until Emergency Medical Services arrive and take over care. Following national Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines, revised during the COVID pandemic, students will learn to recognize a heart attack, and each will work on their own manikin to learn CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Students will learn how to recognize stroke, and care for breathing emergencies, such as asthma, and choking. First aid skills include the care for burns, bleeding, and other injuries. Instructor looks for attainment of skill level as each skill is taught without a formal testing situation. Optional written tests are available, at no additional cost, but not required for certification. Nationally Recognized Certificate and Ready Reference Cards included.

In this course, we will weave a 17” tall basket with premium reed. We will go over the history of pack baskets and what materials have been used. The instructor will go through the process of making the basket step-by-step ensuring all will walk away with a finished basket. The baskets will have a base and feet along with pack straps. We will bring a variety of color straps and even color reeds to add a little color to your basket.

Here is a basket that you can take to the market to grab your fresh produce and bakery items. Everyone is welcome to join this class. If you have never weaved before I will be doing step by step directions. You will walk away with a finished basket.

This basket will have two straps that can be worn on the shoulder or carried. Multiple color options on strap. The material of the basket is flat and half round quality reed. We will also add color reed in the basket if desired from blue, purple, red, green, and brown.

Weekend Ceramics Workshops All classes are taught by instructor, Cody Clinton, and will be held at PHEC on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm. Finished pieces will be dried and fired after the workshop ends, and be made available for pickup approximately 2 weeks after the workshop unless otherwise specified. During this two-day workshop we will be firing a wood-fired barrel Sagger Kiln multiple times, a technique of firing pottery that is similar to ancient pit-fired pottery, with some colorful flair to it. I will also demonstrate the traditional Horsehair Raku technique. Each participant will be provided one premade piece to decorate and fire. You may also bring your bisque-fired pieces to fire, as well as additional pre-made pieces will be available for purchase. All fired pieces will be completed and ready to take home at the end of each day. If time allows, there will be a throwing demonstration each day while we wait for the kilns to finish firing.

If you thoroughly understand the subject matter you are painting then you can paint with abandon and enjoy all the wonderful things that watercolor paint can do. In this workshop, we will spend our time coming up with individual methods to thoroughly understand our subject matter, compositional studies, value sketches, color studies and harnessing the power of creating a notan. Students will practice using these tools and then painting with abandon in limited time frames. References will be your own photos or sketches. Please note: This is a one day 8 hour watercolor workshop for intermediate and advanced levels. Students should be using professional tube watercolors, good quality brushes and surfaces. Bring your own lunch/snacks.

Experienced hikers and campers prepare and plan to join up to 8 adventurers to summit Maine's tallest peak with Registered Maine Guide Chris Toy. You must be able to hike for 4 hours with a 20 pound pack while gaining 2000 feet in elevation to sign up for this trip. *The trip will take three days and two nights. The dates are approximate depending on when reservations are available. Summiting is not guaranteed and will depend on weather conditions. *Payable by check only. Call to register.
